Hey folks...debating on keeping my vortex spitfire 3x or replacing it with the vortex 1x8 strike eagle...opinions??
Actually, the strike eagle 1x8 would be suffice for all 3.Depends on what you’re looking to do?
Hunt
Range
Competition
All of the above ??
Had the strike eagle. Liked it, just not a fan of a ton of weight on my rifles. That's just me.Hey folks...debating on keeping my vortex spitfire 3x or replacing it with the vortex 1x8 strike eagle...opinions??
Yes and no. Smaller optic and visual of a scope vs red dot etc ..Actually, the strike eagle 1x8 would be suffice for all 3.
Come again? Not catching what you're throwing out there.Yes and no. Smaller optic and visual of a scope vs red dot etc ..
Most red dots have a larger field of view with the eye piece as opposed to a traditional scope. I think they call that “eye relief” ?Come again? Not catching what you're throwing out there.
Eye relief is the distance between the shooters dominant eye & the ocular lens of the scope. Red dots field of view are always the same unless you add a magnifier or it's magnified itself. Most red dots have a larger field of view with the eye piece as opposed to a traditional scope. Think making your thumb and index finger in the shape of a “C” as opposed to touching them Together to form a circle or “ok” sign
most red dots will have quicker acquisition ability vs sticking your eye into a scope
What I am getting at is target acquisition in a red dot is way faster than a scopeEye relief is the distance between the shooters dominant eye & the ocular lens of the scope. Red dots field of view are always the same unless you add a magnifier or it's magnified itself. View attachment 11336

Weren't we originally talking about how the 1x8 strike eagle would be good for all 3 purposes though?(range, hunt, target)What I am getting at is target acquisition in a red dot is way faster than a scope
correct, it's a prism scope. Good for folks with an astigmatism.Technically, the Vortex spitfire 3x is not a red dot.
