Sheriff: "He wanted to go to heaven, we made the arrangements for him"

No, it was Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey "Let there be no doubt, this individual got exactly what he deserved," the sheriff said. "And to those out there that might be foolish enough to ask why we shot him so many times, the answer is simple: evil can never be dead enough."

We have one like him in my county who says if homeowners shoot more burglars it will save taxpayers money, and offers firearms training to residents.
Our Sheriff feels that way, but maybe not quite as vocally. He is a regular guest on 2A Radio here and is very vocally pro armed citizens helping to make their job easier. When the covid lockdowns started he went on the radio and the facebook and said " In this county we uphold the constitution. We will not be pulling anyone over and asking to see your justification papers or any of that other crap. We will not enforce mask mandates". And when thugs from the city started coming down and breaking into people's cars, one homeowner exchanged gunfire with them and the Sheriff went on the local news and pointed out to people that they should not shoot a gun at anyone who hasn't shot at them first or otherwise made themselves a threat to innocent life. The homeowner was not charged. Somewhat later though an idiot took a few shots at a car thief as he was speeding away in the guy's car. That guy was charged with reckless endangerment and unlawful use of a weapon, as he should have been.
