Police are still civilians plus them being part of law enforcement puts their cases at the forefront of the headlines unlike regular citizens. You didn't set me off brother. It's just a well covered subject.
The links you provided involve cops.
Here's a quote from one of the links.Rittenhouse had standard FMJ in his AR. The same target grade ammo everyone on this board has their closet stacked full of.
They are also held to a much higher standard with regards to justified shootings. The ones in question also either modified their gun against dept. regs and then tried to claim they didn't mean to shoot ( hence why the modded trigger would come into play) or in the other case I can think of, the guy brought his own shotgun with the words "You're F'ed stenciled on it.Police are still civilians plus them being part of law enforcement puts their cases at the forefront of the headlines unlike regular citizens.
Rittenhouse claims they were FMJ. But even if he didn't, are you or any of these lawyers or insurance people trying to suggest we shouldn't use hollow points in our defensive handguns ? What's in yours brother ?Here's a quote from one of the links.
“Consider that the prosecutors tried to use the fact that Kyle Rittenhouse used hollow-point cartridges in his AR-15 because they explode, and he wanted to kill people. We know it's ludicrous, and the prosecutor was schooled by Rittenhouse and the defense counsel on this point, but the point is nearly anything is fair game".
The case with the you're F,ed dust cover was actually an AR. I've watched the video numerous times and I personally feel that officer did murder that guy. Having stupid logos doesn't mean someone is guilty in my book but this can convince some that the person on trial had the intent to do harm. They are also held to a much higher standard with regards to justified shootings. Yeah, dude was an idiot and shouldn't have been allowed to be a cop.The case with the you're F,ed dust cover was actually an AR. Hell no!Rittenhouse claims they were FMJ. But even if he didn't, are you or any of these lawyers or insurance people trying to suggest we shouldn't use hollow points in our defensive handguns ? What's in yours brother ?
Same here. Justified is justified. And our governor has a record of pardoning even some of the dumbasses ( McCloskys for example). The cop in KC who was convicted by their Soros funded DA is most likely getting a pardon as well. In my opinion that guy should never have been charged.Hell no!
I'm not advocating for anything here I'm just pointing out that certain things have been used against lawful citizens by overzealous prosecutors before.
Fortunately I live in NH and our laws here protect law abiding citizens involved in legal self defense instances. I know in Massachusetts where I lived previously the courts there would do what ever they could to bring charges against a self defender.
Agreed!Same here. Justified is justified. And our governor has a record of pardoning even some of the dumbasses ( McCloskys for example). The cop in KC who was convicted by their Soros funded DA is most likely getting a pardon as well. In my opinion that guy should never have been charged.
All I'm saying is that barring making yourself a giant target by going on the internet and talking about killing intruders and stenciling crap on your gun, you are usually going to sink or swim on the strength of your ability to convince a jury or prosecutor you were reasonable in your belief your life was being threatened. Especially with SYG laws. And Rittenhouse is now a precedent. It is highly unlikely anyone is taking your gun apart to see if you dropped an Apex kit in it. And if they've gone that far, you're already in court anyway so unless that trigger upgrade gets you convicted it's a moot point. And that has never happened. Not even in NY or CA.
Can anyone name one where the conviction was based on legal modifications of a gun ?I hate to burst you guys bubble but there has been instances where the prosecution has tried to use firearms modifications against a defendant. Some of these modifications are not the main reason the defendant is on trial, though things like ammunition types, emblems, attachments and other mods have been used as a way to build a case against the defendant for intent to kill or negligence even in what most would consider a legal self defense shooting. Kyle Rittenhouse was a recent example of this kinda case where the prosecutor was trying to use anything he could to make Kyle look like a blood thirsty killer and not just someone who defended himself against multiple attackers.
Just because a prosecutor tries to build a case using firearm mods as a means to force an opinion of a defendant doesn't mean the case will hold any weight.
Hopefully none of us here will ever need to use our firearms in a self defense situation especially for those in blue states or cities.
Here are a couple references on the subject with examples taken from actual court cases.

I like suppressors, just not enough to pay $200 and register them with the feds. In reality the only ( Legal) thing they are useful for ( above just being a novelty) is home defense. Because firing guns indoors is deafening.
