Got it taken down, and it is FILTHY DIRTY

Found one gip bushing boogered up, but functional, it's still getting replaced.
Also on the list are a new firing pin spring, hammer block safety plunger spring, and recoil spring.
the 38 super auto is a gift that keeps on giving.

The slim Rosewood double diamond stocks arrived earlier

It fits the hand a bit better now, but an arched main spring housing will bring it all together I think

Gfan,
Regarding brand new 1911s, esp the mil spec variety, my advice: give it reasonable cleaning (field strip level) and lube it good before the first firing, and only use standard 230gr FMJ “ball” ammo of a mainstream brand for the first couple hundred rounds…

Nice choice, by the way :)
Yep I field stripped it, cleaned and lubed it up the first night I got it before shooting it. I works great, got bullseyes right away, I was surprised that it didn't weigh more, but it shoots very well. I field strip and clean it after every range shooting. I have around 225 rounds through it, no FTL or FTF at all. Very smooth trigger too.

Nighthawk Custom drop in trigger pack arrived earlier, got the MkIV frame broken down and found a basket case of the internals.
The thumb safety looks like it was fitted with a 2 pound sledge hammer and a chisel.
So, I'll be buying a new thumb safety, new pins (sear, hammer), and new springs.
The slide catch, and magazine release will also get replaced, it seems the previous owner tried to deepen the checkering, and couldn't follow the lines.
