My latest 1911...

Here's my old SA 1911 I bought back around 1995. This was before you could buy one with the beavertail grip safety and Bomar rear sight cut in the slide and so on. Around this time the Kimber might have started up with these features but I'm not 100% sure.

My other two 1911 style pistols are Dan Wesson's Silverback model in 10mm and Commander size called the Valkyrie in 45. I got everything packed up now or I would take photos of them.

I will say not my cup of tea on the boldness(lack of better term), but the quality, workmanship looks excellent.
As long as you’re happy, thats all that matters 👍👍👍👍
Spice of life is what makes the world go round
It is not something I would have selected and said ooh lets try that, but the guy that made them does excellent work on belts and holsters. He decided he wanted to try leather wrapped grips and sent out several pair to customers to field test. They fit well and feel good in the hand. The colors match my pistol well. Yes, it is very different.

I do not know how they will hold up with wear or weather. I am shooting with them tonight.

Neat idea cico, pretty wild looking grips!
On holding up? May depend on if and how the leather is used, treated or with what?
And, not really much different than a set of leather gloves if thought about?

Just thoughts is all. The leather thickness and type, the moisture may prove awkward later on depending on treatment. With normal body sweat or perspiration is one thing, in rain or wet weather could be another? Wet leather can be very soft, slippery and malleable almost like squishy mud in a hand. Could lead to grip issues if not careful. May need to stabilize leather with something to keep it more rigid and firm if hasn't been done already. - A plasticizer of some sort?

Leather also may interfere with mag release and mag insertion too when and if too soft depending on firearm when using for grips. A thin stiff plate between grip and gun may help? Rigid grips are usually best, although there are softer rubber grips available, rubber grips are usually hard rubber though because of possible slipperiness. Good luck on your test trial!
