Here's my old SA 1911 I bought back around 1995. This was before you could buy one with the beavertail grip safety and Bomar rear sight cut in the slide and so on. Around this time the Kimber might have started up with these features but I'm not 100% sure.
My other two 1911 style pistols are Dan Wesson's Silverback model in 10mm and Commander size called the Valkyrie in 45. I got everything packed up now or I would take photos of them.

It is not something I would have selected and said ooh lets try that, but the guy that made them does excellent work on belts and holsters. He decided he wanted to try leather wrapped grips and sent out several pair to customers to field test. They fit well and feel good in the hand. The colors match my pistol well. Yes, it is very different.I will say not my cup of tea on the boldness(lack of better term), but the quality, workmanship looks excellent.
