Sig STX

Sig uses grease on all their metal guns. I won’t start a debate on which grease is best or grease vs oil. I use TW25B on my 226 Legion. A lot of the Sig wonks recommend it.
I'll add my recommendation for TW25 grease, I use it on all my semi-autos and get great service from it. For a while SIG was putting Lucas Oil grease in the box with new pistols, don't know what they are doing now. There is a fellow over at Apex tactical who makes these recommendations for lubing a SIG. I have been doing this for years and am a believer.

ok, several updates...

today, took the STX to the range, with 100 more rds.. but the RSO wanted to trade me, 100 rds of 9mm for 50 rds of my 45 ACP, and i did.

so, here is 1 pic of todays target, 3 rds in the dark green, and only 42 rds total i shot, cuz i put up another target, for him to try out the Sig. and he has at it, with a full mag of 8 rds..

next, now after a total of 150 rds, when i got the gun home, i did a field strip, cleaning and lubing.

it went against my grain, but after cleaning, i do have a jar of EWG (extreme weapons grease) made by Slip2000.

i put a thin bead into the slide rails, and onto the frame rails, then used FP-10 for the barrel (inside and out) and the disconnector, and the hammer, like i'd ordinarily do, and a drop into the mag release button. this by far, is the first and only 1911 i have used grease on.

i am liking this 1911, i have to ask, @Annihilator if you changed out the flat steel recoil spring, for the typical rounded one.??? do you know of anyone that has, and were there any issues.???

would you know the spring rate..???

oh and Sig got back to me via email, i had told them i just bought this gun, and wanted to know the date of build....

Aug 26, 2022.....!!!

and i got it Sept 1st...

also, i was told, they no longer send out samples of thier grease, but i can buy it from them...

oh well, spend nearly $1,300 for a gun, and they cheap out on a free sample....

thanks in advance

No, I kept the flat type that came with the gun, plus I ordered a 3 pack from Sig to have spares. I’m guessing it’s the standard 16lb spring. I was told the flat type will last longer then the rounded one. Now on my Colt Competition, they come with a duel spring setup now, regular round one and also a flat type that fits inside the round one, supposed to last at least 5,000 rounds. I have had no issues with my Sig using the flat spring. I think I paid $19.99 for the 3-pack from Sig, those will last me as long as I am living yet…….😬

and i checked in with my LGS regarding a Colt Competition, SS, none...they haven't had any shipments of Colts in a while, but they did get in that new Prodigy 2 sizes, 4.25" and 5" either one, $1495

i'll pass, this could be another SA 35 issue until more are built.

My Colt is the blue model, I just love a blued .45, always did, that Sig you got is very nice, love the duel tone look.
