Stolen Flag Pole

That sucks.

Some people look down their noses at "River Rats" as we're sometimes referred to here, but there's something to be said about living on the kind of street where people know they steal at their own risk.
The thief doesnt know how to survive.
They just “get by”

Their day will come. Always does.
Opportunity is not a long term plan
Neither is Hope

Good will always prevail.

When I worked with the Boy Scouts we did a lot of service projects for the National Cemetery in Memphis. Around the 4th of July and Veterans Day, they put out a lot of full sized official American Flags as decorations to honor our lost soldiers. Of course some of them would be stolen by scumbags who wanted to be patriotic, but didn't want to bother buying a flag. :poop:
They would display them at their home or fly them on the back of their pick-ups.
What they didn't realize was that all those flags were serial numbered and stealing one from federal property is a felony.
More than one dumb ass ended up in jail. 😁

We have an epidemic of people driving through our over 50 community at night stealing yard art (decorations) The police have issued a warning not to go out of your house to confront them. Even if they are in your back yard. If you go outside to confront them & you shoot them. Your arrested. they have to be breaking into your home & inside the house.

When we had the hay business Mrs Greener started decorating hay bales. She became famous in our neighborhood for her various seasonal motifs over the years. The hay bales at the end of the driveway became a landmark for locals giving directions. Then people started stealing the characters. When they stole the Easter Bunny it was the last straw. We had to move the display closer to the house. The summer beach theme is up now.

Same BS rule here. I guess I could use bear spray if I confront them!

Takes a few to ruin it for everyone

make the lawn gnomes or pink flamingos out of C-4, lay down Claymore's, Bouncing Betty's, and set up bear traps.

and if that fails....

Went to recycler on the way to base. Sure enough I saw it leaning up against the wall. The guy said he just got it yesterday, I said I had one stolen from my yard yesterday. He wanted me to pay for it and I said I wanted it for free. I said if I didn't get it for free I would call cops and have them look around the property to find other stolen property. He offered to bring it to the house, which he did, and he felt better when I put it back in the receptacle that was in the front yard. He also gave me name and address of person he got it from. I will bring it to the cops this afternoon and let them know I want to press charges. I did not ask how much he gave for it. Here it is in all its glory.

Glad you got your property back. In my early days working property crimes I was astounded at how much stolen property we found at pawn shops and recyclers. Didn't they think we would look there? Florida requires positive ID whenever you recycle something but it still goes on. Most of those thieves are not rocket surgeons and have no concept of logical consequences. Run Old Glory up and have a cold one.
