Suppressor Question

Thank you everyone for the plethora of detailed information. This is a great forum! I ended up buying a Silencerco Chimera 300. There are no barrel restrictions. Furthermore, I can use it on my 6.5 Creedmoor as well as my 308. I did have to purchase a 6.7" hand guard for the Saint Victor 5.56 pistol. I have already installed the ASR mounts onto both AR's. Now its time for the ATF wait for the suppressor stamp. They are saying with the new "eForms" the wait is only 90 days...we shall see.

I ended up purchasing an SLR 6.7" hand guard for for my 5.56 pistol. I have been assured that it will be a perfect fit. You can find the handguard here...https://slrrifleworks.com/ion-6-7-ultra-lite-mlok-handguard/
Looks nice!! Not cheap. That would definitely work, although not leaving a lot to hold onto. Lol.

Yeah…
Going from the Springfield (Bravo Company built) barrel to a Battle Creek?

Serious downgrade, quality wise. Like going from a Porsche to a Yugo.

Replace the handguard.

Paper filing for suppressors went away.
Its all Efile now
You should starting getting emails from silencershop on the process
You can still submit paper but the approval times are still the same 8-9 months plus going that route.

To e-file you need to create an e-file account with the ATF and if you're LGS works with Silencer Shops they should have the software to certify the e-file from Silencer Shop. A lot of LGS use Silencer Shop for their processing.

The e-file process is still in it's infant stage and there's been a lot of confusion on the correct process to e-file from the LGS's and Silencer Shop as the ATF hasn't been the best at letting them know how to e-file correctly.

Just remember if you setup an e-file account give nobody access to your account not even the LGS or Silencer Shop as this is considered a security breeh according to the ATF and your account will be closed.

I just went through the entire e-file process a couple weeks ago so I've been brought up to date on it.

Silencershop told me anything filed with them is going Efile.

I have been doing efile for 3 yrs now on Form 1’s.
Silencershop sets up efile and you’ll have to get online to atf to complete login and move forward

When you log into your Silencer Shop account there's a toggle button you can press as a preference to paper or e-file your purchases.

To Form-4 you need to wait for an email from Silencer Shop that says ready to certify then you can setup a time with your LGS that works with Silencer Shop to certify before it's submitted to the ATF for approval.

It's a basic background check and a few other questions to answer along with showing your ID to the LGS.

Yeah, I saw that link. I’ll have to register there. Fingers crossed my LGS will be on board with doing this. The guys there said they got cans through SS and they were all paper. Didn’t think the owner set up their software yet. Ugh…

How about the PSA 8.5” Nitride barrel? I’m guessing that’s a downgrade as well. Guess I’ll be looking at the hand guard. Those ones that 2nd supporter linked looked pretty good. And the 6.7” seems like it would fit perfectly.

I just created my ATF account. Is there anything I need to do now? My preference on SS is for eform.

Silencer Shop will know when your account is made. I got an email from them within 2 days after account creation. If you don't hear anything from Silencer Shop on the certification process in a day or 2 I would recommend emailing them to let them know you created the e-file account.

Silencer Shop has been rolling out the software for e-file to partner dealers these past few weeks.

I assume you have a Silencer Shop account also?

Yes, I do. So, I don’t fill out any of the forms on the ATF page until I get something from SS, correct?

There's not much to fill out on the ATF page except account setup. The next step will be an email to certify from Silencer Shop then you setup a time with your LGS to certify and submit.

You can see the stage your at by logging into your Silencer Shop account and check order status on what you bought and it will show what step of the process your at currently.

Correct
Have 3 in that stage now.
2 form 1’s completed earlier last year..

Bottom line is silencershop will guide him thru the efile process
