This all started back in the late 50's & into the 60's when kids were pushed hard to go to college. This lead to a shortage of skilled labor. Today mechanics, carpenters, plumbers, etc are making a good living while young people with college degrees are flipping burgers.
I spent 42 years as a heavy truck and equipment mechanic. Yeah, it was hard, dirty work, but I made a decent living at it and am now comfortably retired.
The future belongs to those who are willing to get their hands dirty.
