So do I. And cheese.

My lady puts Mayo on hotdogs.
I picked up mayo with my fries too.
Ok for me Mayo on sandwiches and Mayo, ketchup, jalapeños, bacon and lettuce on burgers. Cheese is ok on hotdogs with chili!!! But Mayo? No thank you.I'll take a hard pass with mayo on anything...
C'mon ScottJ, there's no mystery meat to it. It's nothing more/less than boneless pork shoulder. Other than bacon and ham, probably the best part of the porker.Have never eaten a McRib, and have no intention of trying it. Falls into the category of "mystery meat". I also don't do chicken nuggets....or raw (or cooked) possum.
Jumpinjoe, you my friend are an instant legend on this forum!!!Well, let's start here:
Bassbob said .... "Maybe I’m not as old as you guys but the McDonalds fries here taste the same as they always have."
Well Bob, just how old are you? I'll bet you've (sadly) never tasted the real authentic McD's fries that Caro and I remember. I truly hate that for you! ☹ LOL! About a year or so ago I had a couple neighborhood boys helping me around the yard one weekend. As part of their pay on the second day I agreed to take them out to McD's for supper.
While there the two of them were discussing just how good the fries were and I couldn't help but chuckle. They asked why the chuckle and I told them what the fries were like way back when I was their age. Thay absolutely could not fathom the fries could've been any better than they are now, and I could not convince them of it.
Another older couple standing in line behind us politely interrupted us and explained to the boys how I had not only actually underrated the old fries, but that they'd gone on many dates to McD's in their day just for the fries.
After we ate and were driving back home, the two of them talked about nothing except just how in the world the old fries could've possibly been any better. They blamed it on everything from my poor memory, to my probable senility, to just plain old age...... but just never could bring themselves to accept that the fries could have actually been any better. TRUE STORY!
10mmLife said .... "Sounds like a real classy date night going to Mcdonald's." LOL! You've got to remember there wasn't a whole lot more to do back in the day. McD's, BK, and Steak & Shake and maybe a pizza joint were about the only fast food places back then. So a typical date night was a stop off for burgers, fries & a shake, then to a drive-in movie, then a secluded spot for a little 'making out' session. (I know danged well some of you remember this).
Well, some went to make out, being the gentleman I was/am, I would usually just take my date lady straight home after the movie, safe and sound. Yeh, things (including dates) were a whole lot different back in the day. Remember there was no such thing as a smart phone, or "Fit Bits", no video games or any other kind of social media.
Of course on the good side we actually had real muscle cars. Cars that would intimidate you just by you hearing it idling at a red light. Today, well I hear lot's of high pitch wailing and screaming from little 4 cylinder engines in cars with wheels having so much camber it looks like they're about to fall off. LOL! Not knocking any of it, just explaining the difference.
Then Caro said .... "I’ve actually (in the past) requested that a guy take me to McDonalds for fries on a first date." Well Caro, I don't specifically remember if you and I ever dated, but I've had more than a few ladies ask to go to McD's when I asked what they'd like to do first or where they'd like to go. And they always followed their choice up with a few words about how good the fries were there. Well, they didn't have to convince me of it, I knew how good they were.
Funny how, when I started writing this post I started remembering back to those days and all the things that were so different. So many good things that are gone now and today's youngsters will never have an opportunity to see/experience them. I know they have their own favorite things of today and that's good because they'll think back and fondly remember them in another 50 yrs just like we do today. Only sad part is ....................................
they'll still never know just how good the McD's fries were !!!!!!!!!
