if we point at tax payers being charged for presidents security 2x..look no further than bush x2, clinton, lbj, and obuma
they all provide a GUEST quarters on their estates for the SS to live....but they charge the gov rent on the areas that security uses to provide security for person.
i despise wasteful spending
but who ever is pres or VP and they have to travel on the tax payers dime to do our countries business ..or on vacation
there is cost involved and we cover it ...it wont change and it should not change
but the costs should be in line with norms... security is costly this day in age, no matter who sits in the big chair
if places are provided for free by donors or friends...their should be no TAX break for that provider and only costs passed to taxpayers to cover actual security and travel.....NO LODGING ..
just like when i was a gov contractor, if our lodging was provided by the entity we visited, then we could not put in a travel claim for lodging, .....only food and travel . its in the gov code.
i loved it...we stayed in some awesome places that would normally be off limits or very very pricey to stay.
we need to look at congressional trips, that bring family members etc...to places around the globe
why are we covering the family members costs???
congress should get only 2 weeks a year and all fed holidays...off
no weeks on end being off
