To get the jab or not?

As a diabetic, I have diabetic neuropathy, and if my A1C isn't controlled, the burning/tingling/cold numbness is intense in my legs and arms. I somewhat control that currently with 600mg of Gabapentin (2 - 300mg capsules 2x daily (which is considered low since dosages can go up to 3600mg per day for severe cases)). I was told by my doctors that Shingles would show similar symptoms to the neuopathy, and potential worse. I'm pretty sure I never had Chicken Pox (the same virus that causes shingles and could live within one that had Chicken Pox causing shingles later on), plus I was vaccinated as a youngster for Chicken Pox (although my sister told me I did get it one time, but what does she know ). Anyways, to be cautious, I did submit to the two shots given with some time duration apart (weeks?), and experienced no adverse symptoms.
Thanks for the info. I’m sorry to hear that your nerve pain is that bad.I have heard that Gabapetin is some pretty serious medication with various side effects.
I took the first round today and return in 6 months. Im hoping I avoid ever getting it.

Good for you Salty (y). As far as me, the gabapetin helps and as mentioned, I'm on a low dose (doctor actually prescribed three capsules per day for total of 900mg, but I kept forgetting the noon time dose so 2 times seems to be working. No real side effects other than some mild balance issues sometimes and sometimes lightheaded. It's classified as a controlled substance, as it can increase the potency of opiate type drugs (which I'm not on). Thus pharmacy won't auto fill prescription and I must get new prescription from doctor each time I run out.

if we go to a doctor, seek his/her advice, and don't listen to him/her.....in the end, who do YOU blame..???
The same person that I blame should I get lung cancer from smoking since I was a teen. We all make choices and sometimes the results don't turn out as we would like or had hoped.

So, there is a pattern here I think, your on medication, and you forget the noon time dosage……and you buy your guns during this time then? So, I think the side effect may be you buying guns, and if you take the noon time dosage, would you still buy your guns……further studies need to be done ………🤔🤔🤔😉

Well I have a “condition“ that there’s no medication nor cure for, I can tell you that 😉🙄🤣

Just exited the hospital last Friday after Covid, Pneumonia in the right lung then both lungs and finally getting the flu which was a true blessing because I was then put into isolation. I Have stayed fairly up to date with my vaccines since I've been on that hamster wheel starting around 1965. Over the last few years I have been following Natural Antibodies or Vaccine Protocol with my Oncologist and Immunologist. Example got Covid in early 2022 which fired up the lymph system causing me to start Chemotherapy. When discussing a booster last falI it was decided to use the natural antibodies from previous Covid and not risk the possibility of activating the Lymph System again creating another chemo session. Have a form of Leukemia that I'm very blessed to manage well. Have never thought a vaccine would necessarily prevent (believe world vaccination is needed for true elimination) illness but hopefully make whatever symptoms bearable. Feel very confident in the decisions we make as a team, I vaccinate from their input and projections. Don't know the role vaccines, boosters, no vaccines played in this but I feel fortunate to have walked out of the hospital and come home last week, unfortunately saw a few that didn't. Having said all of this I get / don't get jabs on team decisions that are always made with long term in mind. I do stay current on Flu, Pneumonia, Shingles and Tetanus. I hopefully start my immunoglobin therapy/transfusions next week. Have a blessed day and great weekend.

it would have still been "your choice" to smoke, or not...ya can't blame someone who you emulate. one made his/her choice(s) on admiration, copy cating, or trying to be "one of da guys"

the doctors "advise" or "consult" based on their years of education, and experiences.

so, one cannot blame any doctor, when advice for the betterment of one's health, is ignored or not followed as close as possible.

So has Colon ostomy but so far I have resisted anyone taking 12' of garden hose.... ;) :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
more like a moonshot's worth of camera cabling........

no pun intended on "moon"............

and the dang doctor always asks..."are you doing ok"?

"yeah, doc, i'm ok for having that camera come up my butthole to my esophagus....and into my sinuses....."

I have some neuropathy as a side effect from my chemo pill.
I have a great acupuncturist that can control my side effects without drugs, maybe one can help with yours.
Just a thought...

Eradicated? Not hardly. Greatly diminished, absolutely. The intelligensia claims that mask wearing, social distancing, hand washing, etc. enhanced by covid protocol are mainly responsible.
Our youngest daughter was a trauma doc in a major hospital during the COVID pandemic. She said the same thing-flu cases were way down due to the COVID precautions being taken. People just staying home and away from one another had an enormous impact on the flu spread.

She has also recommended flu, shingles, and pneumonia vaccines for us. I do the flu and pneumo vaccines every year with no ill effects. Nothing new for me as I had to get the flu shot every year for the Air Force.

I'm in my late 50's, after watching my mother and other older relatives get shingles I wanted no part of it. I got the shingrix(sp?) vaccine. Both times I felt sick for the day. I'll take that over the severe effects of getting shingles. FTR I've not vaccinated for anything other than childhood stuff and Tetanus. You'll can keep your covid gene therapy and keep thinking it actually works. I'll keep my natural immunity I got from getting it.

Thanks Wirenut. I've heard good things about acupuncturist helping patients with different conditions and aliments. Maybe one day I'll have to look into this, but the medication seems to be working as long as I control my A1C, and I'm on several different medications for high cholesterol / Triglycerides, Diabetes, and Acid Reflux anyways, so what one more to take. I see several different doctors for these conditions (sometimes seems like once a week), but adding another to visit if it helps would add worth right? So who knows.
BTW: the Condition with no medication or cure I mentioned in a post following my first, responded to smart aleck robot 🤖@Annihilator making fun of my firearm collecting obsession. So I responded that currently for this "condition" this is no cure, but I don't mind :sneaky:

I was just raslin you, didn’t mean any harm, my apologies!

@ BET7 , I also have the pain and am on Gabapentin. I take 1 300 MG in morning , 1 around supper time , and 2 at bedtime. Before I started taking the gabapentin , I had the feeling of my feet and lower legs being in a bucket of liquid fire and a small guy running up and down my lower legs with a small ice pick , stabbing away.

I have found that the less sodium I consume the better off I am also.
