US Army UH-60 Blackhawk collides with PSA airliner in DC of the Potomac River.

You may not like the way Trump talks, he does have diarrhea of the mouth, but usually there’s some truth in what he says.

Watch the FAA recruitment videos from 2 years ago. Qualified applicants were denied jobs because they didn’t meet diversity requirements. That’s a fact. And in the end they only met 1% of their goal anyway. So explain to me what value “unique cultural experiences “ brings to the job of an air traffic controller ? Anyone ?
Although I agree with you COMPLETELY and my response is by no means an attempt to make this political but this is an unspeakable tragedy and how it needs to be addressed is with compassion for the families of those who lost loved ones and from what I’ve heard from our commander and chief of this country is nothing short of disgusting and although it may hold some truth it is by no means the time for it. The investigation is and will be ongoing for for a long long time and until then we must support everyone involved to the fullest with love, respect and total understanding of their feelings.
Someone, please SOMEONE tell that man to SHUT UP…….
My opinion.

Early on I heard where the controller warned each aircraft of the others existence well before the accident and each aircraft acknowledged back. But as time went on the controller gave a 2nd warning about the landing jet to the helicopter and followed with a 3rd with instructions to pass behind the the landing jet, neither of which were acknowledged by the helicopter crew. I think those instructions by the controller also suggest he knew their altitudes were close to each other.

It seems to me the helicopter routes should have a hold spot on either side of runway 33's flight path where the helicopters must wait for an additional clearance to proceed. Just a thought.

Look who were talking about. No one is surprised. Least of all the people who voted for him.

I’m not looking for decorum or etiquette to be a hallmark of 2.0.

I can tell you one thing, if it had went other way all we’d be hearing about right now is how the pilot had ties to a white supremacy group or something.

As I mentioned I agree with you and also respect your opinions and in regards to this post I’m quoting you are spot on

My take:
Chopper pilot had his NVG’s on restricting sight line
ATC was overworked, understaffed and cleared a chopper without thought to spacing with inbound runway
AA pilots were cleared to land and with angle of approach obviously didnt see a helo coming in at an angle below them

I will blame ATC for this one and my personal guess is black boxes on voice comms from helo/airline will show ATC screwed the pooch

Apparently the Airports' ATC staff is only at 2/3rds strength and is 19 short of requirements.

Analysis of the Coms between the Blackhawk & the ATC was inadequate according to another former pilot, considering the airspace.

Nonetheless multi-FUBARs occurred, and the airliner folks were unaware of the oncoming situation while on final.

While the Congressionals want a short trip to there offices when flying back to DC considering the excessive traffic in & out of Reagan Int. + extra stuff flying around they should close that airport to fixed wing traffic, and make everyone fly into Dulles.

The time ran out on the regular & reoccurring close-calls.

My .02

Agreed. They have been talking about closing DCA and moving everything to Dulles for 50 years as I recall. BWI is another option. DCA has been my favorite airport and really convenient to the places I have wanted to go, but there is just too much traffic. They could make DCA a military base as well to meet the military mission. I see a big fight coming in Congress over all the aviation issues exposed by this disaster.

They could move the very same unit that the UH-60 was from to the DCA footprint since it's right next to the WH/Capital/govt offices that they're set-up to respond to, plus base some SAM assets there to because of the position.

In a fashion, having the incident occur over the river since both aircraft could have crashed into the developments on either side of the river.

IMO, DCAs days as a commercial airport should end.

Have the Congressional/high-level govt. officials take the public transit in from Dulles, like the serfs have to do.
