Went to the gun shop to look at a great plains AR10 in 300 win mag, but it was really cheap lookin. lots of slack between upper and lower and cheap aluminum. Doubt it would hold up under the 300 cartridge. for 1300 bucks i passed. bought this used Kel tec instead. don't look used much. not even any marks where the slides goes. got it at a good price so i brought it home.

Which gen is the KSG ? ( I assume this is the KSG. 12 rd. )

Some of the earlier ones had a few minor issues that can be easily taken care of, should yours need it. You may hear people tell you " Rack it like you hate it". That is utter nonsense and a good way to break a shotgun. Action wise it's an Ithaca 37 clone. All the action happens in the last 1/2", so you don't need to rack it hard, you just need to make sure you push and pull the entire length of travel.

I have a KSG25 ( gen 2) that has thousands of rounds through it with no major issues. The selector switch loosened up once which caused FTF. They should have used a shoulder screw. You can't tighten it all the way or the switch don't move. The solution ( should you have this issue) is to degrease the screw and the threaded hole, put a little blue loctite on the screw then tighten it down and then back it off until the switch moves. Then let it sit for 24 hours to set up.

Anyway, nice score. I paid $800 for the KSG25 new several years ago. You can't find them for less than $1200 last time I looked.

Good, useful info. Well done! ;) (y)

These were roll crimped, i'm sure they are turkish buckshot. let me go try another brand. can't remember what these were.
I shoot a lot of the Turkish crap in training and just general range debauchery. For SD/HD I use only Federal or Brenneke. In all my shotguns. Winchester has some nice loads too, but I tend to stick with Federal for most stuff. Flite Control 8 or 9 pellet and the Truball 1600 slugs. Or Brenneke slugs.

The first ones were stars and stripes buckshot, i then tried some sterling 00 buck and only 6. then tried some S&B bird shot and 7 went in easy. i did measure both buckshots and they measured 2 1/2 inches. i didn't the S&B. does shotgun shell measure like lumber?
Not really, but there is less than uniformity across the brands. Federal and Winchester usually measure 2 5/8".

Soon as i can get it sighted in it will stay by my bed. but it may be a while before i can shoot it. it does rack pretty easy. i'm gonna take it apart and oil it up tomorrow.
Use some grease on the parts that slide. Put an RDS on it. Romeo 5 is good but the Holosun doughnut of death reticle excels on shotguns.

Here's a link to the manual, which I assume yours didn't come with one. Disassembly/assembly isn't difficult, but a couple parts can be tricky.
