Used gun day

I typed great plains but it's great lakes, the link below is exactly what i looked at. but they are junk. big time slop between the upper and lower. the studs that hold the two halves together are small and where the pin goes is very thin walled. you could actually move the two halves forward and backward a tiny bit. now i am no AR snob and own cheap AR's but none cheap made as that 300. i wouldn't shoot that junk especially with a 300 mag cartridge. I have seen M-16's that has 1000's of rounds through them with less slop. i would bet one of those flimsy tabs that hold them together will break under a 300 recoil.

I've seen their guns for sale (internet only), but haven't bought nor seen 1 irl. Wonder if the rest of their guns lack the quality as the 300wm you've seen?

Went to their site and for the price ($1,170-1,265) it might be an attraction, but I'll pass. I'll also pass on a NEMO @ $6k+! For a noreen price I'd be more to buy it ($3,495) and used to be 700-800 dollars less. APF @ $3,200, but has a 5 round mag. POF used to offer 1 also, but no more.

Went to the gun shop to look at a great plains AR10 in 300 win mag, but it was really cheap lookin. lots of slack between upper and lower and cheap aluminum. Doubt it would hold up under the 300 cartridge. for 1300 bucks i passed. bought this used Kel tec instead. don't look used much. not even any marks where the slides goes. got it at a good price so i brought it home.

You will find interesting and useful information on the Kel-Tec and M-Carbo websites. If this is the older model KSG it probably still has the original FCU parts, which are for the most part stamped from sheet metal. M-Carbo offers upgrades in the form of machined steel FCU parts, including the trigger and enhanced springs, as well as upgraded screws and grommets. Put these in and you won't know it is the same gun. Also, check with Kel-Tec to see if your model will handle the shorty shells.

I looked up serial numbers and they have a math formula that kinda tells you how old it it. according to my math mine was the 17,100 one to be made. so early model. here are some pics of the fire control unit. whats behind the plastic halves i dunno. i ain't takin em apart. lol.

If the first two characters in the serial number are letters from the alphabet it is a gen 2. There is no gen 3. They kinda do rolling upgrades as issues present themselves. By the time the gen 2 ( not an official designation by the way) came around most of the issues were solved.

Only one letter, K and four numbers. ah well if it shoots and works it will be fine. can't deal with it much anyway. i got health problems i need to address first.

It will be fine brother. As I said, most of the issues were easily solved by just shooting the damn thing. Lots of guys do what they call "Fluff and buff", which is just polishing connecting parts and such. I never bothered with any of that. Didn't need to. Just grease the slidey shite and shoot it, it'll be just fine.
