Warranty

"Probably not?" Contact Springfield so you can be properly assured. Good luck with the project, and welcome to the forum.

Honestly, I fail to understand why people think the warranty is a big deal.

Unless the gun has issues right out of the gate, it’s likely not going to. So, if it’s running good—have at it. Mod away.

A little spray paint (or whatever) isn’t going to affect anything, and the only warranty impact it would have is if you tried to claim there were problems with the finish.

Just don’t get people’s reluctance to find out for themselves…

Particularly with an AR. Outside of stuff you would notice right away, like fit and finish sort of stuff or not running right out of the gate, there's literally nothing that could manifest itself later that you couldn't fix quickly and relatively inexpensively.

Basically what Springfield has done in the past, is that they will warrenty the firearm even with mods, unless the mod is the case of the problem.

For example if you refinish the firearm getting it coated and then it rusts you will be out of luck.

But if you refinish the same firearm and then later on down the line the striker breaks….the two are unrelated.

Now the same firearm again that was refinished and now shoots way to the left….well to coat the firearm you have to remove the sights and reinstall them…..in this case you will have to pay for customer support.

So funny story, when I bought the Porsche they offered me an extended warranty. It was going to cost $15k on top of the car. I don’t know how the guy kept a straight face. Needless to say I am way ahead of that despite some large repair bills.
After my divorce I dated a woman that had just purchased a brand new Saab Convertible, the dealer had talked her into an extended warranty for $6,000.
The car was a piece of 💩
5000 miles on the Odometer the car had serious engine and transmission problems, electrical issues with lights. First time she put the top down the rear window shattered.
Saab denied all warranty claims, I’m not kidding….. Saab said the transmission shifting itself out of drive on the highway was her fault.
When the unibody frame started separating from the body of the car she filed a lemon law lawsuit and got all her money back.
