What are you doing right now??

Just picked up my old man's guns that I had hidden at his house from him. His dementia is bad. He's been diagnosed with Alzheimers. He thought I took them a few months back but I couldn't stand the thought of taking them so I hid them. My mother recently insisted I take them. Half the time he's convinced she gave them to some random kids down the street.:(

Anyway. Another 94 in 30-30. This one from 1971. Another BAR in 30-06 and a 12 gauge BPS. Also another Hawken .50 Cal. Also his little .380 EZ I bought him. I'll give that to my niece. In the end I hope she has a son so I can give all my dad's stuff to him. Bunches of ammo and other paraphenalia too.

Not easy Bob, my wife’s sister has this, she is living now in a assisted living facility about 2 hours from us, it’s very hard to deal with, I know personally how it feels, hang in there sir!

got back from range. Today's test was not for accuracy but rather working inside my saint victor, only one flyer top, the others 3 top right are not my holes. 25 yds, windy day about 60 degrees and sunny. Iron sights only, no bench rest. Ammo used was 7.62x51 (not .308 the seller advertised) and a couple of M80a1 EPRs. All functioned flawlessly. Interestingly the guy on my right complained about the blast, he was shooting .308 for his wife's new .308 browning and sighting in the scope for her.

Boy Bob, that’s a rough deal. Stay strong Brother and here’s hoping for an easier time ahead if possible.

Very sad to hear this, Hang in there and be strong for your mom. she going to need your support.

It's hell to watch, i had to show my wife where the bathroom was a while ago. I seen her wandering around and ask are you ok? she said i forgot where the bathroom is. shes lived in this house 45 years.
MY dad doesn't know where he is in his own house about 60% of the time. Has to be shown where the bathroom is. Starts talking about the different rooms and the house in general as if it was the house he grew up in, which he hasn't lived in since the 40s.

On a bright note I did just successfully date his Fox Model B 20 gauge to 1973. It was his quail gun and of all his possessions it's the one I associate with him the most. Many, MANY days spent in the milo with him and that gun, me with my Model 311 12 gauge. I miss those days very much. He always wanted a Citori but couldn't afford one. He spent about 2 years looking for a Fox and finally found one and it's been his pride and joy ever since. I would have loved to be able to buy him an Ansley Fox in time for him to hunt with it.
