Watching Strategic Air Command with Jimmy Stewart
In 1975 I was a young OSI agent at Wright-Patterson AFB. The Air Force Museum is located there. They had just finished a new wing at the museum and Bridadier General (retired) Jimmy Stewart came to dedicate the new wing. I was assigned to be his ad hoc close protection while he was in town. My instructions were, "Be there to make sure nothing happens to him but make it look like there is no protection". (My duty weapon was a S&W Model 36 with 3" heavy barrel).
As far as I know he never knew who I was or why I was there. I can tell you he sounded and acted just like you saw him on the screen. I believe that was the same year he made "The Shootist" with John Wayne.
