What Happened to Peanut Butter And Jelly

There are still a few of us that still eat peanut butter sandwiches. Not much of a jelly fan, but occasionally will add it to the sandwich. Our local schools have the pb&j sandwiches, sans the crust, bread cut into a circle shape (done when removing crust probably), and wrapped in cellophane.

There also used to be peanut butter available (in good old #10-sized cans) aboard ship on the serving line, especially (as I recall) when it was liver & onions night, which a lot of us did not eat.

Still do here too. Jelly can be a bit debatable sometimes though. A slice of American cheese may sound a bit odd to some people on a PB&J - but is a nice change sometimes. Sort of like a quicky Danish?

Haven't seen cans of peanut butter in many years. As a kid we used to get it from an old corner general store in deli section. Was really good stuff, bought by the pound from the butcher, scooped out into butchers paper. Took home and transferred into other containers. Haven't seen bulk peanut butter in many moons either.

Guilty here of adding a slice of cheese to a pb sandwich on occasion. :)

I have kids (not the goats, but eat like them) that sure do like them! Me on the other hand, not a fan. What is your go to jelly for the pb&j? Grape for them! I like grapes, but not grape jelly. I'm a plum eater mostly.
I ate a bunch of pb&j samiches when I waz a kid. My first choice for jelly was grape , 2nd was strawberry , and 3rd was blackberry.
If I weren't a diabetic I would still be eating them.
