What watches

I was a big Watch guy years ago . Best ones was in the Navy I also had my dive watches , Seiko dive master was my best. But Citizens took over for awhile and others , I always had my eye on the golden ring watch they had in the ships store , it was a Rolex dive watch ,Red and Blue it had the Pepsi nickname . But the price was over $1,000 dollars which was alot of money back in the 80's . No one ever bought so they raffled it off, I didn't win ..lol. Over time I loved the Tag Heuer Always wanted one but then again price the formula 1 was like $1,500 it was a dream , Then my wife surprised me for my birthday with my dream watch Tag Heuer F1 . I still have it today and only wear it on weekends or when we travel . But the crazy thing is if you look at the same watch today from Tag the sell for $4,500 . Is that crazy ..Sorry so long ..brings back old times in life ...
Go Navy! 👍

I wanted to get a Timex, but there were some negative comments from wearers that made me rethink my choice. I really wanted one due to their older marketing phrase, "Takes a licking and keeps on ticking."
I have never had a bad Timex. I wear a watch ( Timex ) 24/7/365 . I only take it off to take a shower or when doing my dishes. In fact I still have the watch I replaced with my current watch. It is still working but the stem is messed up from my wearing it 24/7 so I had to get my current watch.

I welded while in the Navy, and the guantlet-style leather welding gloves always covered my watch, so no messed-up watch faces, but did aquire spatter burns from wearing short-sleeve shirts on occasion, lol.
It wasn't the watch faces I had trouble with. The watches , other than the Timexs , would just stop working. As for the burns , I have them scars up and down my arms.

Maybe one day i'll splurge on one of the Breitling or Omega watches that I want, but they start at around $12,000 so I dont know. That's alot of guns and ammo 🙃🙃

Have had a few bad Timex's. The finish started pealing one and edges started getting more prominent, felt like razor blades against skin, but watch kept good time. For the most part, Timex is a good dependable watch, still have one.
Citizen's a favorite watch. Nice, but a bit pricey now though.

My opinion you are better off with cheaper watches. I had a Rolex Submariner, a Brietling, and several Omegas. Don't get me wrong, great watches, but I was always worried about dinging them. Since I got rid of them I enjoy my watches a lot more. Just an opinion.

I have some real nice pocket watches, which I wear on occasion. Usually when I'm dressed to the nines. Other than that I have no use for a watch. There's a phone in my pocket that tells time.

Nothing wrong with that. We all find what works for us. Most people I know say the same thing about a flashlight, they have a phone for a light, but I carry one of those in my pocket too lol.

Flashlight is totally different for me. The light on an iPhone is ok in a pinch when nothing else is available, but it is a sorry excuse for a flashlight. I carry a mini Maglight, but I am actually hunting for a more modern, brighter, relatively inexpensive replacement. Whereas anything that accurately tells the time, will accurately tell you the time. Watches are more of a fashion statement than a tool when you have something else that already tells you the time. My 2 cents.

Yep, we all find our way. Be a boring world if we all thought the same way.

I changed lights last year to an olight 3teos. I like it real well. Uses one aaa battery, I use an energizer lithium.. has a nice high and useful low.

Watches are almost entirely, a fashion/status statement these days. Still are really nice though. Love me a nice watch haha

I wore these two watches back in my working stiff days. It was a company requirement to have at a minimum a 17 jewel pocket watch. It was many years after the introduction of digital watches that the company finally allowed employees to use them. I still preferred my 17 jewel watches.

Once I retired, my daily watches were cheap Walmart specials. It wasn’t until I received better watches for my birthday that I began wearing nicer watches. This is my current favorite.

I also wore several dive watches over the years, never anything really, really expensive, but a couple Seikos and such. Always liked them but as I mentioned, I was really hard on watches due to the welding so usually kept the dive watches just for diving. Then with the advent of dive computers, it just wasn't as necessary to have the dive watch.

No need for either these days ................... haven't been diving in probably 15+ tears.

Thanks Go navy .... I did Army Reserve then Army then Navy , Wanted to do Air Force but didn't happen ...
👍

Worked with a guy on one ship that was prior Army, and he had a hard time adjusting to shipboard life. Took us awhile to convince him that he did not need to spit shine his work boots.
