Whatcha Watching?

Don't apologize, you're absolutely right and I own that. I call them my "guilty pleasure" movies. I'd only seen about the first half of the first Pitch Perfect when I'd walk in the room and The Lovely Mrs. Snake had it on, and I'd always kinda enjoyed what I saw. So I sat down last week and watched all of it and PP2 and really liked 'em. There are some REALLY cool and amazing moments in those movies, other parts, not so much, but hey, it's a lot of Hot Chicks singing Rockin' Tunes really well--what's not to like? ;)

A Nice Girl Like You is basically if Hallmark did a porno and it was pretty funny. Likewise, Life of the Party is basically a chick-flick mashup of Back to School and Animal House and stars the hilarious Melissa McCarthy. Again, what's not to like? ;)
i get it it
melissa is actually a very very funny actor. she reminds me of lucy and how she does physical comedy, sort of grabs you up.
hallmark doing a porno i am laughing pretty hard at that

Yellowstone reruns. Background noise while I am prepping for the workday tomorrow and winding down for bedtime
yes they are MILKING yellowstone for all its worth... last part of last season,... now might be out in april ??
if its half as sucky as the first half of this last season... i wont watch it but once
they really screwed the pooch this season... story line is garbage and so full of BS thats its hard to watch now.
cracked me up....lets send our cows to texas because of a disease from bison.... he has millions of acres...surely there was a few pastures no where near the park that were safe????? come on guys, 3 trucks of cows is not a money maker
sorry

I watch a lot of stuff on History and Discovery, but I've just about cut network TV off entirely. I WAS watching The Rookie, Big Sky, and Chicago PD but decided to let them all go this year because they just got too stupid. Enjoyed The Voice but decided it wasn't worth watching without Blake Shelton, so that's gone too. About the only network TV show I still watch is Shark Tank. Last week's episode was a particularly good one.

They have filmed the Yellowstone series locally.

I know where & have driven past the "Ranch House" many many times, and you can see it from the hwy. I know where they film the cattle herd scenes on a ranch & area I'm familiar with. In watching episodes I can recognize the background scenery so I know where they are at.

I have mixed feelings about the show. The developer/producer/writer is a lefty & has admitted to playing to conservative/western stereotypes when writing it, but it is a fictional show with no relation to any real historical Montana ranch/family. Although there is a small town named "Dutton" on the east-side so I guess they chose that name to use.

The "real" big landowners are super-rich folks that own a lot of land on the east-side, as well as the rich resort enclaves such as the "Big Sky" development south of Bozeman.

Not a fan of Costner since he's such a prima-donna, and another Hollywood lefty. He made a documentary about how YNP came to be and totally twisted the historical record around to his lefty viewpoint. I only watched it for the scenery. Funny though he could made it out that he was trekking by himself but had a big production crew with him. He could only could get it shown on FOX.

They've dribbled out a few $$ to the local towns where they've set up production, but when they film scenes in the towns they shut down the area and don't adequately compensate the business owners for lost income during the film time.

Needless to say the show has drawn more interest to the state/area during the tourist season, and has been a factor in the influx of out-of-staters moving here which has resulted in higher housing costs & decreased available housing.

The show is pretty woke when it comes to state political issues, that aren't really happening.

BTW - Where they film it is nowhere near YNP as related to the "bison brucellosis" episode, since they set the "ranch" near the Park (YNP). But the brucellosis issue is a big one although elk are known to get it also.

I really wish they would have filmed it somewhere else to the eastern part of the state.

My .02

Yup. It lost its luster a while ago. Costner quit and they have to do a wrap up quicker that they were expecting. It’s pretty predictable anyway

1000000% agree
the other RANCH that dingle berry (taylor sheridian ) owns the four 6s is a real working ranch
it was passed down many generations of real cows, etc like the king ranch
taylor and his co partners scooped it up when the last heir passed away. it was her request the ranch be sold in all or part
if kept in tact it could remain the cattle and horse ranch it was. so he is trying to keep that alive. but he is a hard over jackwagonlefty so who knows. his character on yellowstone is almost as bad as his real life persona (all about ME me and me) the head horse breeder there passed away earlier so who knows what the horse program will bring in future
taylor does promote the horse sposrts in rodeo etc., so maybe it will stay good

really only good thing about yellowstone is the huge number of songwriters and performers that are from texas and other places that get little air play. but now they have a following.

they filmed the pre quel to yellowstone on the four 6s ranch, ITS freaking huge and covers several counties

i never watched yellowstone because of costner, the other jackwagon, but i got trapped watching it and liked the story, up until this season. not hard over, but it was ok for a hour. lots of other good actors and lots of nice scenery
the total left BS mindset of the show made me yell at TV a few times, especially about taxes on a ranch and johns dummmmmmmbbbb acts to prevent growth around the ranch...stupid

costner wants us all unarmed...yet like liam nesson, almost all of his movies are violent and with omg......firearms

for me, other than "local news", i rarely watch regular tv as well...i will watch for instance reruns of some older tv shows that i like, even though now, they are cut up so badly for commercials.

i prefer movies, and Motor Trend TV...

i might watch History channel, and ION, that's about it.

Been on a bit of a movie binge here lately. In the last two weeks I've seen:

Currently watching The Deer Hunter and Major League.
Since posting that, I finished both. Major League is even funnier than I remembered from so long ago. I'd never seen Deer Hunter before--and I hadn't missed much. Dunno why it was considered such a big deal--I thought it was one of the three or four WORST VN war movies I've ever seen--and I've seen quite a few.

Just finished Man on Fire today. Man, is THAT a good movie--really holds up! Very Most Way Snakeworthy! (y)
