When it’s ethical but legally questionable

Sadly in Illinois the laws are a gray area, left up to the individual officer interpretation of said law. One officer may be fine with what you are doing, and the next officer will write you a ticket.
Mid-afternoon on a rural unpaved road, pulled off the road just watching a herd of 30 whitetail deer 300 yards away. No Fireams in the truck. Illinois DNR pulls up and wrote me a ticket for harassing wildlife!
I would have seen that Son of a ^%&#! in court.

Courts & lawyers are expensive. It was just cheaper to pay the ticket. I learned to go where they don't.
I might be wrong but I think that could have been easily contested just by showing up in court , in front of a judge . Tell your side of things to the judge . If the Deer were 300 yards away and you had no firearms with you , how could you be harassing them ?

Thats where in my biz we tell every restaurant in the area to give the particular officer bad service.
Word spreads quick about police with attitudes. They become a little more polite and less “respect my authoritay” as they get sub par service every where they go 😉
