Where’s the Ammo!!!!!

I got lucky and found 200 round boxes of .45 acp and 50 round boxes of .40 S&W on the Bass Pro website this week. If the prices at Bass Pro have gone up from last year, it appears to only have been by $1-$2 per box, which I am happy to pay. I've noticed that Academy/Cabela's/Bass Pro and most of my smaller LGS locations have only raised ammo prices by fairly minor amounts. Ammo is frequently out of stock at these locations, but the prices have remained completely fair and reasonable. From what I've seen, it's the online dealers who have jacked up the prices. I'm fully endorse capitalism, but a vital part of the capitalist system is consumer choice. When/if the shortage subsides, I plan to give the bulk of my business to the stores that didn't double or triple their ammo prices.

Just tonight I got a 'notice' of 9mm Blazer in stock at a particular online store. The 'notice' hit my inbox at exactly 10:38pm. I saw it and went directly to the store at 10:45pm and the store said "Out of Stock". All gone in 7 minutes. Don't know how much they had, but it was all gone in 7 short minutes.:(

NO, actually it was "TargetsportsUSA".com. And I didn't even have the opportunity to put anything in my cart, I just went to the site, asked for 'more info' on the ammo advertised, and it then told me "Out of Stock".

I'm not sure where they're located and may be some time difference between us, but that's the way it is ................ :(

And the hoarding continues........☹️

This is distressing, but at least they had the decency to tell you up front. I just got an email from Bass Pro that they have cancelled the order for .22 LR that I placed yesterday because the items are out of stock. I've been sticking up for Bass Pro and Cabela's because they have not drastically increased their prices during the shortage, but I'm not happy that they would accept an order for an item that they should have known they didn't have. I'm wondering why it took them a full day to figure this out.

I'm not necessarily beating up on them, it's likely that same 'notice' went out to hundreds of customers at the same time. It doesn't take long for the I-net communications link to crank up. My guess is I just wasn't fast enough on the trigger .....
so to speak!

Just checked RogerSportingGoods and they have Federal Range Packs (800) in stock right now. I ordered a box midweek and it showed up today. Lead round nose, but better than a poke in the eye.

I believe ammo is getting more expensive at the SOURCE. If costs go up...so do prices.

A guy at the show yesterday (Chantilly VA) had 1,000 round bags of 9mm. I asked... "$950".

Uh...nope. Thanks though.

Cheapest I saw there was around $.70/rd for 9mm. If you wanted 7.62, it was EVERYWHERE...but 9mm - as we all know - was super-scarce.

When I get my Savage AR10 .308 back from service I’m going to try some 7.62
Cost is much lower then what I’m seeing in .308 right now.

I appreciate the heads up. I'm still pretty well-stocked on .22 LR, but I always pick up a box or two if I find a good price. .22 LR is also my go-to if I need to add a few dollars to an online order to qualify for free shipping. I'll definitely add Roger Sporting Goods to my list of online dealers.

I started stocking up on 22shorts, 22LR and 22mags years ago. I'm not one of those guys that buy everything in the case. I make sure there some for someone else. a lot of the ammo I left back in the station was 22s. When I get chance I'll post a picture.
I stock up year long... i keep a 3 month overstock of rounds based on what I avg per caliber per month of training and plinking. That way when panic hits, i still have 3 month of untouched ammo supply ...

how many rounds do you have on standby. I shoot a lot of 22LR is what I use in training new kids to shoot and down the road hunting if they get the itch.

I usually only shot about 100 rounds of each of my pistol calibers (.45 ACP, .40 S&W, 9mm, .380 ACP) every 3-4 months. I take the kids out to the family land 3 or 4 times per year to shoot our rifle calibers (.22 LR, 7.62x39, and .223/5.56), but we usually only shoot about 100 rounds of centerfire ammo and 200-300 rounds of rimfire per trip. While I have a small stash that could last awhile, I've stopped shooting .380 acp and .223/5.56 for the time being, and am now mainly shooting my .22 LR and .22 WMR handguns due to the fact that those are the calibers for which I have the most ammo.
