The smaller you make a 1911, the more difficult it is to get it to work right, spring weight, slide mass and such all have to be considered when downsizing any 1911, like @HansGruber said, the one Springfield had didn’t run well, I had one, very unreliable pistol.They used to make compact 1911’s—Officer’s/Defender 3-3.5” barrel, compact grip.
They haven’t for years. IIRC, the Springfield micros never ran well.

Exactly. 1911s in .45acp get downright finicky when barrel length goes below 4".
