Who Cares About Pistol Grip Angle?

I prefer the 1911 angle. Can I pick up a Glock, immediately realize the natural point of aim is different, and compensate? Yes. But my guns are all 18°ish grips. I also shoot almost exclusively for self defense, because poors. Maybe if I can finally start expanding my collection to more range queens, that’ll change.

I think folks put to much emphasis on grip angle over the ergonomics of the pistol. Lots of folks say a Glock “feels” like a 2x4 and can’t shoot it. Like mentioned above if your sights are aligned on target, no matter the angle it should, the target. I really like the “feel” of a 1911. I much prefer the “feel” of my Gen5 Glock over my Gen4. I like my S&W 2.0 over the first Gen S&W. They feel better to me but I can shoot them all fine.

I had a Walther Q4 SF that was a fantastic looking pistol, but I had to put LokGrips on it because the stock grips were too wide. At 41 oz unloaded with a 4in barrel the gun felt crazy heavy, and despite being phenomenally accurate, after owning it for two months I sold it. Because it didn’t feel right.

I've never handled a SF. I have a poly Q5 Match. It came with interchangeable backstraps. It and my VP9 are the two most comfortable grips on any pistol I've ever felt. And the Q is just stupid accurate. Best trigger I've ever felt on any striker too. If I could eliminate the take up it would be perfect. I'm not a fan of "Setting" the trigger, although I understand the reason they make strikers that way I suppose.

I know where you’re at the Q5 and VP9 are fantastic. I was hemming and hawing about a Q5 and really picked up the Q4 on impulse because it was so gorgeous. The trigger was awesome, but it was like holding a bag of suger. Not long after I picked up an X5 Legion, and it didn’t just feel right, it felt tailor-made. I so wanted to like the Q4, but just couldn’t come to grips with it (no pun intended). A VP9 with the optic cut is on the radar, btw.

I would have bought the Q5 SF, but man, double the price of the poly. The Q4 Tac looks pretty friggin' nice. Never really thought about the weight. The poly isn't that heavy. Even with 18 rds.

The Q is clearly not designed for concealed carry IMO. I have a red dot on it and it is pretty much just making the hole in the center bigger with each shot. Really I prefer .45s and the Q was my first 9mm. So I wanted a high capacity 9mm for carrying. I looked for months and months for a P30L and after awhile I didn't want to wait anymore so I bought a VP9. I specifically wanted the regular version. No red dot on the carry gun for me. I am thinking about having XD Man put me some better sights on it though.

LokGrips are nice.

Years ago, I never really thought about grip angle and just figured that sight alignment was all that really mattered. I then started running moving steel targets and dueling trees and found that grip angle actually did mean something to me.

What I discovered is that if I am trying to run a pistol fast on a target like a dueling tree, I would stay consistently on target with a 1911 grip angle, but would start missing more often on the lower targets more often as I moved down the tree with a Glock grip angle. Could I overcome this? Sure, but with so many gun choices out there, why even try? I just made sure that all my pistols had a similar grip angle so that I don't have to even think about it... Easy, peasy.

Technically Luca Brasi held the gun to the bandleader’s head while Vito assured him either his brains or his signature would be on the contract. :)
I thought Luca Brasi was cannoli shopping at Whole Foods while Don Corleone was contract negotiating. Or was Luca sleeping with fish, Clemenza making pasta sauce, Moe Waltz horsing around with Tom Hagen, while Sonny couldn't find change for toll charges.

Tammany Hall made the Corleone Family look like amateurs.

BTW, pen guns are illegal in CA. So are plastic straws. But brain damaging dope is legal.

Okie’s pair of gold plated six guns.........oppps....did I post this...🤪🤪🤪🤪
I can't tell. Is that Joe or Hunter? They resemble each other. Tweaking does cause premature aging: Hunter doesn't look a day over 70. Only Sleepy Joe would go after Americans' guns while protecting Hunter's pedophilia, money laundering, tweaking, and running a criminal syndicate.

That was long after Johnny Fontaine's contract negotiation with the band leader. We know it's true because Michael told Kay the story on Connie's wedding day.
