"He should have armed himself... if he's going to decorate his saloon with my friend."
Bill Jordan lived to the ripe old age of 86 and AFAIK never went to prison, so whatever he was doing worked FOR HIM. Let us remember that he was, among many other things, the product of a much different time.
Hint from someone who learned and used hip shooting in real life: Buy and practice with a CO2 powered BB pistol. Much cheaper and it offers many more places to practice.I’m pretty fair with a stick bow, and snap shooting a scattergun on quail or pheasant. I’ve still got a fair piece to go to master hip shooting though. When I run drills I’ll get several good hits in a row, then score a few misses in a row. No pattern I’ve found yet
I'm old enough to have shot with him at a shooting range.I'm old enough to have gotten to watch Bill Jordan of U.S. Border Patrol fame pulverize aspirin at 5 yards with wax bullet loads, shooting from the hip. He was a friend of my college instructor and gave a demo. The more modern version of this is Taran Butler running plate racks shooting from the hip.

I haven't tried it yet, but I have a buddy who swears by these new laser targets.

Excellent point. And in that era, the sights on most 1911s (and other service-grade semiautos) weren't much if any better. Some of the sights on those old 38s were good for nothing anyway.
Glad you enjoyed it. It really is a "time capsule" look at a different age, isn't it?Thanks for the link. I fell asleep reading it last night. Very cool.
Regarding the sights I think it was Col Cooper who said Browning intended for troops to put the 1911 in the enemy's ear and pull the trigger.Excellent point. And in that era, the sights on most 1911s (and other service-grade semiautos) weren't much if any better.
I've never heard that, but as a fluent speaker of Sarcasm, I can imagine that Chairman Jeff might have said it.Regarding the sights I think it was Col Cooper who said Browning intended for troops to put the 1911 in the enemy's ear and pull the trigger.
I have always thought those sights were intended for 19 year-old eyes.I've never heard that, but as a fluent speaker of Sarcasm, I can imagine that Chairman Jeff might have said it.
Well, that tooI have always thought those sights were intended for 19 year-old eyes.
I didn't like them when I was 19, and replaced them on mine as soon/quickly as I could.I have always thought those sights were intended for 19 year-old eyes.
