Yesterday the temp was 78. At this moment it is 32 with frost everywhere. High will only be 49. Sure glad my new heater is working! Funny how it can change so fast. Now I need to find my jacket.

same here, in New England, just this past saturday, up to 80... sunday a wee bit cooler and light rain,....this morning 40, and a cold rainy day all day.
i usually go and buy the gasoline and mix that and 2 cycle oil for 2 of my snow throwers, and just gasoline for the blower.
and that gets done T-Day weekend.........each year, it's been getting earlier.
if the NOAA weather predictions hold, we won't get much snow, but, i never believe them.

Last Friday here was in the 70s. This past Friday was 17 degrees when I got up. We haven’t been back up to freezing since. We have a dusting of snow and Halloween is only supposed to get up to 29.

they ought to either be docked a weeks pay, or just work for minimum wage, which these days os almost $20 per hour.

+1Sounds like you folks to the East are getting the weather that just left us - it was 9ºF here yesterday morning and only warmed up to 32º. Looks like it's warming up the rest of the week though.
We've had "mid-December" temps since last mid-week, and still trying to dig out of the cold temps due to the Inversion that has set in with the high pressure system now.
Many western valleys are susceptible to inversions, that trap the cold air in the valley bottoms in the winter and fire smoke during the summer, until they break due to another weather system or the heating of the day in the winter. One can go "up" in elevation only a few hundred feet to get out of the inversion and those areas can be noticeably warmer than the lower areas.
Our over-night temps are still in the teens, and were supposed to get in the upper 30's yesterday but due to the inversion we only made it to 31 so we'll see if the inversion breaks down before the next weather comes in from the coast later this week.

Talyn, throw an extra log on the fire for me! Winter for me doesn't start until the 3rd Saturday of November when I go to the mountains of western Va for hunting season. One day I'm packing the truck in shorts and the next morning out in the woods wearing long underwear and all bundled up. Absolutely no time for my body to transition from hot to cold, but I get used to it. When I leave home the trees here still have green leaves and several hours later I find the trees in the mountains are all bare. I chalk it up to the wonders of Mother Nature!
