With extreme sadness re: my Hellcat

JJ, after reading all the posts here it really seems (to me anyway) the problem is not wide spread. Anyone pulling the slide back to open locked position is always pushing up on the slide lock tab. But it's pretty hard to push the lock tab up without also applying pressure in at the same time. Since it is a very common procedure locking the slide open it really has to be just yours or a major recall would already be happening due to overwhelming calls to SA customer service.

The good news is that it happens everytime on your Hellcat making it easy for them to see, find the problem and fix it. It should be returned quickly. Hope you don't get too lonely with it away from your side for a short while.

Well here ya' are !!! My Hellcat was returned earlier today, just 16 days after it left here headed to SA. The invoice doesn't give much info regarding the fix, only that they replaced the slide stop and tested. I was really interested in knowing exactly what the issue was so I called Cust Srvs at SA and talked with a truly nice lady named Diane. She was as helpful as she could be, but still her only info was that they had replaced the slide stop, presumably due to it being out of spec.

Anyway, it's back in my hands, works exactly like it should, and I cannot duplicate the original problem. The slide lock does feel better but I can't say exactly hoe it's better, other than to say it feels more definite and maybe a little tighter. All these symptoms would make sense considering just what the problem was. My only surprise is that it took so long for it (the problem) to show up.

I know I had locked that slide back at least a couple hundred times and it never happened ..... until the time I was showing it to a friend and locked it back before handing it to him. It had never happened before that time, but I was able to replicate it after that several times.

I'm wondering if maybe something on the back side of the slide stop button broke, or if it was out of spec the whole time and I just never pushed it in the way it needed to jam up. I mentioned I had a bum/sore hand that day and probably pushed up on the slide lock a little differently than I would have normally.

Oh well, all's well that ends well !!! And this whole thing ended about as well as it possibly could have. Woopee !!! I just may have to make a trip out to the range this afternoon.

Am glad you got your fixed Hellcat back so quick JJ, have a good time shooting.

Fantastic!

Well, wasn't able to go to the range last Thursday as I had hoped. The wife had some surgery Tuesday 2nd, and was still needing a little help. Her arm is in a sling and she has stitches in 3 places ..... wrist, thumb and elbow. I was hoping she would be better a little sooner than she was and I did everything in my power to help her get better.

Hell, I even pulled her sling up high enough so that it wouldn't drag in the dish water as she was doing dishes. Hey that's just the kind of guy I am! ;) And the hell of it is both sinks were so full of dirty dishes I was afraid I might have to start using paper before she was back 'up and at it'. ;) But all's well now, she gets the stitches out tomorrow we're hoping...... and she'll be able to run the vacuum. Of course I'll probably have to get it out of the closet for her. But I don't mind a bit helping out my bride around the house.

She still won't be able to shoot though with the bum wrist, thumb and elbow, even with the stitches removed. So maybe, just maybe I'll be able to get down to the range day after tomorrow, this coming Tuesday afternoon for a little 'Hellcat' workout.

I know she wouldn't want me to wait two whole weeks before trying out my recently returned and repaired Hellcat. Although, come to think about it... she may have been considering trying it out herself .. ya'll know what I mean??:D

JJ, Gotta take care of your almost bionic babe before she takes care of you?

P.S. Paper plates aren't so bad, may beat wearing a vacuum cleaner headdress? Yes - Am kidding! :)
