Would you carry a 22 mag

The rounds designed for short barrels (CritDef, PDX, Gold Dot) are pretty low flash…it’s definitely a lot more than, say, .22LR out of my S&W 43C, but it’s not a fireball like you’ll get out of rifle-designed WMR ammo (Maxi-Mag, etc).

And…there’s a critical flaw to your question—and that is, an intelligent person is likely NOT going to be in the situation where they’re going to get shot…it’s those folks who don’t GAF that are the problem.

That being said, though…the odds are stacked against you ever needing to use a firearm in defense. If you ever do, it’s a lot more likely that simply producing the firearm ends the problem with no shots fired. Should shots be fired—not even hits, mind you—will usually end the issue…but even then, 2-3 hits regardless of caliber, bullet type, etc—is a fight stopper in the vast majority of cases…

Yea, I know I just argued both sides of the issue, because both sides are equally valid, and have their strong points and weaknesses.

So, you pays your money and takes your chances.

This puts a real damper on my perceived need to be kitted out like I'm HALO'ing into Peshawar when I go to the corner market for tortillas.

I have a Kel Tec PMR 30 I carry on the tractor. Works good on ground squirrels and feral cats. In the unlikely event of a two-legged threat, I don't feel under armed. Sometimes carry a NAA .22 Mag for deep cover/

From Romeo and Juliet. Mercutio is wounded by a rapier. MERCUTIO No, ’tis not so deep as a well, nor so wide as a church door, but ’tis enough. ’Twill serve. Ask for me tomorrow, and you shall find me a grave man.

Could have been referring to the .22 Magnum.

That's pretty much it.

The 22 pistol in LR or magnum has had my interest as of late as well. I was reading an article about the Israelis using the 22's , not necessarily the 22 magnum for covert work. Not like I'm going around gonna whack people. I wish to get one just to put in a pack for a JIC. There lite weight. Easier to conceal than a lot of others. Now the old wheels are spinning.

Me, personally, no….. I won’t carry any caliber less then a .380, just me, but if your comfortable carry a .22 mag, at least your carrying something.
This guy or the coroner wont care what caliber he died from, other than the fact he is dead.
Miss is a miss, even with .50 cal, so a .22 mag will do just fine. So will a .380

I do not care what cheaper than dirt says.

I carried a .22mag AMT Automag for a good long time.
It's better than a stick😉
Years ago I had a small "AMT 22 mag". Great "Jam-O-Matic". It in short time it broke, I sent it back to be repaired. I get it back and quickly traded it.
One thing, when you fired it, it was LOUD.

If you cannot trust your life with a firearm, you need to find one you can.
