XDMAN's Echelon stuff

I love they have FCU like Sig P365 & P320 and slide ready for most optic red-dots.
The FCU allows so many easy modifications from both factory and after market exactly like Sigs can.
I hope later they make a 10mm, but only time will tell.

That's the the thing. A major part why the P320 and P365 is so popular is because Sig and the aftermarket support it. I love and swear by the Beretta APX platform, but Beretta doesn't support it much at all. If Springfield offers different calibers, grip modules variants and colors, competition offerings, e.i., Sig Sauer level support, the Echelon will be extremely popular especially if they sell grip and upper modules at affordable prices that don't cost almost as much as buying a new gun. If they act like Glock or Beretta, it will fall flat after the newness wears off.

This seems to solve all the issues I have with the P320, Beretta APX, and Sig and Beretta as a company. I hope they support it.

Agreed,
Only time will tell if Springfield Armory fully makes more options for all of us as well as aftermarket does as well, like was done with the Sigs with FCU's
I've seem where Mauser is going to bring in a small 9mm that also has a FCU.

I, as a buyer and user of firearms and like to make personal changes, love my pistols with FCU's as so easy to modify.

Ok, just got done looking at one at Vances......looks better in person then the pics and videos, range was to busy to give one a try though, waiting for the newer shop at home to get one in and they have a range to try guns before you buy, just like Vances does. Still think Xdm Elites are hard to beat, thats why I own 2 now.......so I just bought some ammo and cleaning supplies today....
Ha! I believe we passed one another on 270. I also am more excited after hands-on. Nice pistol. . .

It's not a bad looking pistol.
If i was in the market for another 9mm i would be looking at it hard.
Wonder when wilson combat will have a grip module for it.
I will allow that polymer pistols are functional as heck, there is a reason thry are used by the vast majority of service agencies, army's and civilian shooters.

But as a child of the 60s, growing up with blued steel and walnut, one thing they ain't, is good looking.

All it needs is “Grip Zone” to be a masterpiece…
Mine has Grip Zone on it. It doesn't bother me. And the gun is ridiculously accurate. 13 rds of .45, what's not to like ?

Really this whole thing about an optic ready pistol has me being distracted by shiny things. At some point I will get the new VP9 with the slide cut, but the fact is right now what I really need is something about the size of a Shield with a slide cut for a Holosun. But I am like Doug the dog from the movie "Up". "SQUIRREL". Next thing you know I'll be buying a shotgun instead. If I'm going to start down the optic on a carry gun path it should probably be with a gun I can carry in the summer time under a t-shirt.

Not sure any factory guns the size of a Shield with a Shield cut from the factory for a Holosun. You think you'll like the VP9 over this new Springfield offering?

I almost guarantee I will. I love my VP9. And my P30L. Of course the new OR VP9 is about $400 more than this Eschelon.

I got a buddy I mentioned in one of these Eschelon threads. He has a dot on a raggedy old beat to hell Glock. It's about the same size as my Shield. I am not particularly fond of Glocks but I couldn't miss with this one. I'm not sure if his slide was cut or not, but I imagine it was. It was definitely modified.

I'm also a big fan of the Beretta APX platform. In my opinion the original APX is one of the coolest looking polymer handguns ever made. Mine fits my hand better than most polymer handguns and I've owned quite a few different brands and models. I've come close to buying an H&K VP9...:)

I don't think any firearm will ever be better looking to me than a Single Action only Colt(or Colt clone...:)). Maybe I watched too many episodes of Gunsmoke as a young lad...:) A government model 1911 is a close second.

I had a Sig P320 Compact and never could bond with it, so I no longer have it. I replaced the Sig P320 with a Glock 19 Gen 5 and for me it was a smart move. I still carry my APX most of the time but the Glock 19 is no slouch in my opinion. And I feel extremely blessed to own both handguns...:)

The Echelon seems to have a lot of little details that make me want to try one. I like the front and rear slide serrations. I like the sights. I like how it supports different optics and the idea of being able to try different ones without too much hassle. I also like design of the trigger.

I've handled and shot several firearms that had optics on them and I was pretty impressed. I'm still using open sights. The design of the Echelon might be enough to finally motivate me to get a handgun that's easier to install an optic.

I've owned Springfield XDs and several different 1911 models. I had a Green 1911 Milspec model. Really nice firearm. Springfield Armory makes good stuff....:)

I have a VP9sk and absolutely love it. I hate living in Illinois, but I'm stuck here for now. Since the magazine ban here (15 & over) I can't take the 17 or 20 rnd mags home if I buy an Eschelon. But I'd love one. Anybody know if they will make a smaller mag for it?

I’m kicking around a lot choices, and not limiting myself to 9mm. I’d actually prefer another .45. Not a Glock guy either but if they made a G30s with a slide cut for a dot I’d check it out.
I was just looking at the G20 Gen 5 MOS 10mm yesterday... I think I like it. Of course I walked out with an AR10, but thinking about the Glock.

I'm not going anywhere near putting a dot on a handgun since it adds bulk & weight, but I'll go with them on long arms where, I believe, they're more suited. & enhance effectiveness.

If I bought another P-10C that's optic ready, I'd keep using the fixed sights.
I thought that as well for a while. I spent some time with some operators and trainers learning how optics change the way they shoot, target focused vs front sight focused... I got one and now I would probably never buy another handgun that was not optic ready. Now I am going back and replacing most of my Iron Sight pistols with optic ready models. The new micro optics are light enough to be unnoticable in my opinion. obviously just the opinion of one dude, but I love optics, I think they change the game.

I use and practice both.
15+ yards, a RDS is nice
Below 15 yards, open sights are pretty quick and easy to eliminate a target.
7yrds or less, its point and shoot.
