Yo Cretins

One can be a curmudgeon and not a cretin. Also a codger. I'm well on my way to becoming two of those things.
Ignorance is bliss, and I'm blissful. Three strikes I'm out. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
Two years into retirement and still shave face and head every day before coffee. The three S's and not shoot, shovel, and shut up. No idea who made my razor or brush, they work though, both 20+ years old. For soap, when the Ivory in the shower gets too small to hold onto, I just break it in half and drop it into the save bowl. Works as well as any shaving cream out of a can I ever tried.

Ivory. You monster.

You aren't far off. Today it was Yes- Tales from Topographic Oceans ( side 4). It's a little early and I am not feeling well the last few days, but I was very tempted to have a nice Bombay Sapphire martini, stirred 63 times.

And yes, I have blasted the crap out of more than one old TV set with a shotgun. After relieving it of it's vacuum tubes of course.
Hope nothing serious, feeling better?

I had a nice shave today with a modern razor for a change, which was much appreciated after a hard day out on the hill.

The tools.

Hardware:

Above The Tie S1 Slant - I have 3 Slants, all of which are aggressive and efficient. This one is the smoothest though and fairly forgiving.

Of course I paired it with a Feather Hi Stainless blade-

The brush is a 2 band Silvertip badger by Savile Row

The software:

Soap - The Holy Black Gunpowder & Spice. Mine is the earliest version which is I believe made with tallow. It is very fast and easy to lather and super slick with plenty of cushion.

Aftershave Tonic - The Holy Black Gunpowder and Spice. Bay Rum is so 1672 so they made this with American made Whiskey. It's a fantastic smell with just enough alcohol to give nice, cool, soothing sting.

After all these years i still shave every day with a razor never did grab on to electric shaver . My dad did he never use a razor . I don’t know I think it wouldn’t feel refreshing after an electric cut .
I tried one once. It gave me ingrown hairs. That’s what brought me to safety razors and straights though too. After having either a beard or a mustache and goatee for 30 years, when half my mustache turned gray, I decided to go clean shaven. First thing I used was a 5 blade modern cartridge razor. It tore my face up good. Ingrown hairs and rash.

Speaking of which, I left a mustache and goatee today. We’ll see how long I can stand it. Last time I tried I made it about 3 weeks.

It may sound silly but a high level Shave with a good razor leaves your face smooth as glass and a nice splash with some alcohol and menthol is soothing and refreshing. And there are a lot of great scents. Most of my favorites ( Tombstone, Tuscan Oud, Leviathon, Cologne Russe, Holy Black) incorporate “ notes” of whiskey, leather and gunpowder. And it dries down nice unlike cologne which hangs around way too long and often leaves you smelling like an old lady or a hooker.

I always been clean shaven until 7 years ago I retired been wearing a goatee and mustache for that long now don’t think I want to go hairless again
Gray hair, and more accurately having the left side of my mustache being gray and the right side black, made me start shaving clean. It’s all gray now though and really it’s just the itching and having to trim it that makes me say F it and shave it all off.
