Our president just broke your request...
That's the point I was trying to make in my statement.

Let's be better than these heartless politicians that only put on a show in front of the cameras. We are better than them in the fact that we care about the lost lives.

The political arguments are inevitably going to happen after tragic events like this, but all of us getting defensive right out the gate only paints us in an insensitive light to the loss of lives and just adds fuel to the political fire.

In my opinion a show of true respect and mourning should be had before any talk of “what if" politics takes place.

They already are. I just watched it on CBS news.

I called this a week ago after the Buffalo thing. I told my wife we are going to be hearing about all kinds of mass shootings now. Yeah, cause and causation blah, blah, blah, it's just awful convenient.
I doubt the parents of those dead kids would use the term convenient. Can we not put the rhetoric away for a couple of hours?

No doubt. It is these ridiculous comments that paint us all as gun toting conspiracy goons. How about if we put the power of our belief in 2A to push for common sense legislation that protects 2A and improves the safety of our citizens? Maybe instead of fear and arrow slinging we could all reach a common ground?

i'll mention it here, since i haven't read anyone else questioning this...

"why were the doors not bolted shut during school hours"? (as the shooter was just allowed to walk on in...???)

"was there any security personnel on site"? (most likely not, is my best assumption)

many places like in my area, all schools have thier doors locked up tight, and there IS private security on site, with at least radios/cell phones.

maybe there in that nice, quiet, pretty little town they felt safe from the world..?? (kinda naïve in this day and age..??)

i hope that this incredibly terrible event will "WAKE UP" school administrators all over the country (and maybe the world) to secure the building(s), and budget into thier operating costs, at the very least 1 security person, to make a 911 call

Let's hear your plan. If you think there will be common ground you're in a mental institution. If you think this won't immediately be used politically by the usual suspects you're in a mental institution. News stories are already out there calling for banning body armor, universal BGC and registration and of course banning high capacity magazines. Less than 2 hours after the news broke. On major news networks. Convenient?

The truth isn't ridiculous. You can make yourself appear to be concerned and polite on this here gun forum that none of those children's families are ever going to see, but looking for "Common ground" is an exercise in futility. Unless you think some more gun laws will solve this problem because I promise you no one on the other side of this debate is interested in addressing the real solutions to this problem and they sure as hell aren't interested in compromise or common ground. The problem is that when something like this happens, people like you become willing to compromise and look for some common ground that in reality is nothing more than " Feel good" BS that won't change anything. And you let the MSM and the noise around you convince you that anyone who resists sounds like a , what did you say, Gun toting conspiracy goon.

I suggested nothing that is a conspiracy theory, I just pointed out ( correctly) a week or two ago that we are going to hear a lot more of these stories in the media leading up to November. Brought to you by the same people who brought you the Hunter Biden laptop whitewash, Russian collusion and the idea that 40 idiots dressed up like vikings marching around the capitol was an armed insurrection coordinated by the president of The United States.

On that note I am done with this thread because I don't want to upset @10mmLife and the fact is going on and on about how bad we feel for the families here is pointless and does nothing since the only people who are going to see it is us.

he even shot his own grandmother, it is reported....she might still be living.

either way, does anyone see the anti-gun people pressuring the politicians even more now?

i do.
That's as predictable as August being hot in Texas.

There's an excellent commentary by Rob Morse on ways to prevent this type of event on Ammoland.com. Naturally, these steps will be ignored as they don't demand gun confiscation and restriction as the "solution".

Given his zealous approach to mandate by executive order, it's only a matter of time before Imbecilic Joe decides he must "do something" to combat the evil gun lobby and the rising tide of "white supremacy". We can be confident that whatever he decides to implement by fiat won't do a blessed thing to prevent evil people from committing evil acts. It will make it harder for decent people to protect themselves.

Going over the facts that we all aware of what the current administration and anti 2A groups will push even more for after this and similar tragedies on a Pro 2A forum and fighting each other is like yelling into an echo chamber.

Getting all riled up and political (from all sides) the day of a tragedy is totally disrespectful to the families and victims. It becomes a selfish cause if our only concern is what the anti 2A groups will predictably say after a tragic event.

There's a time and place for a political reaction from us against what the anti 2A political group narrative of the day is, but first we need to let the dust settle and plan accordingly.

Getting riled up at the thought of something potentially happening is a sign of being unprepared and afraid. If you are afraid this incident is going to strip you of your rights be more prepared by voting in the right people and joining Pro 2a organizations. Don't just give your yearly fee to these groups and expect them to save your freedom's be politically active and stop complaining on an online forum at the last minute, of a threat of our freedoms.

Please stop reacting on emotions and give the grieving families some respect.

My comments are not directed at anyone in particular nor are they meant to be an attack. My comments are based on a generalization of what I've seen anytime something bad happens.

Remember ”United We Stand" actually means what is says.

This is awful and my heart aches for the families of those little ones.

I read an article once where a city of a mass school shooting formed a study group to look for solutions to prevent another attack from happening in the future. The group included school staff, police, healthcare, and parents among others. Interestingly, not one recommendation mentioned gun control.

I would hope that leaders at every level would have the same approach to finding solutions to prevent school attacks. Anything less would be a disservice to those that were lost.

This.

on the NBC news NOW, 14 dead, children and 1 teacher...
Prayers and condolences. Absolutely horrible.

Many like myself have been fighting to get armed professionals in schools, armed volunteers (NRA School Shield), and allow admins and educators to be armed. The Democrats are obstructing this effort. I have trained numerous admins and educators and know of multiple groups that train monthly on their own dime. I will train them for free: provide they bring equipment and ammo. To this day our local school district will not allow them to carry. We have Sheriff on duty which is great, but many schools do not.

To move forward we need to speak with courage and truthfulness. We absolutely need to have armed folks in our schools to protect our children, and Democrats are obstructing this. If we do not have the courage to call them out for their hypocrisy, as they use these tragedies to call for gun control, we are spineless and they will get their way.

Of course it went political some feel gun control is the only way to stop senseless killings. So tell me, what's your solution to stopping all these shooting.
There's a recent thread on the topic of mass shooters that is more focused on the topic of it and not a particular incident.

Nope. Aint going to happen unfortunately because it doesn't fit the anti gun narrative . When is talking about banning assault weapons and weapons of war they are not really voicing real concern for the tragedy or victims familys just trying to use it to promote their agenda. Seems some in the media were saying the shooter had two assault rifles. And as for passing common sense gun laws, all the laws to make this illegal are already on the books.

When the Bill of Rights was written every weapon was a single shot, it's time to update that amendment to reflect certain conditions for buying a weapon and the fact that a single gun is capable of mass destruction.

I take solace in knowing the soul of the shooter is now being tortured in Hell for killing all those innocents. It's time for a national Red Flag law. It's time for requiring safety and training courses before anyone can buy a gun. It's time for a law prohibiting anyone under the age of 21 to buy a gun and it's time to ban all video games that promote violence.

this is what the killers mother is quoted as saying...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The mother of the 18-year-old gunman accused of killing 21 at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, this week told ABC News in an interview that her son was "not a monster," but that he could "be aggressive."

"I had an uneasy feeling sometimes, like 'what are you up to?" Adriana Reyes told ABC News' Chief National Correspondent Matt Gutman in an interview at her home. "He can be aggressive... If he really got mad."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

somehow to me, she still should have "seen" there may have been a problem....
