They can't that's about as far down as you can mill an XD slide, as you go down there are other parts that fit in the slide that get exposed. With the Echelon HS built the slide around the mounting system. With an XD, XDM you have to build the mounting system around the slide.Why wouldn’t they use the optic system the Echelon has? If they did that and offered it in .45 ACP I would be interested.

I've been carrying a Springfield XD Mod.2 subcompact for many years.
