Ammo Availability Predictions

My LGS had this 7.62x51 for $18.00 a box yesterday so I grabbed 4 boxes and a couple mags to try.

They have been getting ammo in pretty consistently and selling it way lower then all of the other stores in the area.

We have backed off buying more ammo for now. Have enough to make me comfortable. A lot of folks complain about the rationing most GS are doing. Folks need to relax. Let someone else get some. Like many others, I don’t shoot as much as I used to. Deal with it. You don’t need a pallet of 9mm. Buy a box or 2 here and there.

I could; I could easily turn it around for $3/rd, I reckon.

But I’m not that guy.

I am checking with friends to see if they need any, though. I'm really pretty set for Buck right now, but if they're looking, I’ll pick up a case and we'll split it up.
Well ya know I'm always up for some reasonably priced shotgun shells. ;-)

I'm more comfortable now than I was last week, but I still have a ways to go to get what I need.

But do you drink caffeine free soda AND caffeinated coffee?
Just saw this question. Nope. Gave up Diet Coke about 10 years ago (aspertame). No soda (pop), No caffeine....never liked coffee.....I'm kind of antsy anyway.
My wife bought some "healthy", flavored, carbonated water. Didn't know what it was. Tasted good. Had one during the first few days of COVID lockdown while we are trying to get all our employees out and working from home. Turns out it's kind of an energy drink.....equal to 1 cup of coffee. Could not sit still that day...assumed it was the stress of the situation until about a week later and I told her. She directed me to actually look at the can.

Ammo, like TP or food, is based on supply and demand. There are 4 basic components found in ammo which also impact ammo availability. If one , or more, of those components is in short supply or not available…then ammo supplies “dry” up. The 4 components are primers, projectiles, powder and casings. Of the 4 components…primers and powder are in short supply and coincidentally, are usually heavily regulated.

Last year, I was “toying” with the idea of getting into reloading my own rounds. I discovered at that time that primers were the Achilles Heel of ammo. Powder comes in a close second. I’m sure the anti-gun politicians realize this situation as well! Casings and projectiles usually aren’t a problem…only primers and powder! Because of the scarcity of primers and powder, I decided against getting into reloading. It is a nice idea but just not feasible with shortages and scarcity.

Although it might look like I’m hoarding ammo…I don’t look at it that way. I, officially, retired in June, 2016. Trying to live on a fixed income is rough, so I decided to work at a part-time job. With the extra income, we’ve been able to pay bills and buy some items that wouldn’t have been possible if I wasn’t working. One of those items is ammo. I figure that buying ammo NOW when I’m working…I’ll still be able to go shooting when I finally stop working. Rather than hoarding, I prefer to look at it as “stocking up”.
