And yet another issue with my .308 - I'm getting beyond fed up

Blown primer, not a good sign for the ammo mfr. That's why I like gov't contract surplus ammo . Crimped and sealed primers. Less likely to have a blow-out that way.

That was definitely from the Herters round. Looks like i'm gonna dump the 70 or so rds of Herters I have left.
My buddy has a Galil that eats everything, wonder if he'll want it lol.

Maybe try knocking it back in to battery and try to pull back. Bet a penny there's another primer floating around in there that might just fall out.

I tried, it won't budge.

Yeah, looking at those pics, SA customer service needs to get in on this. The bottom rear of the bolt carrier shouldn't be polished up like that. That looks like misalignment between upper and lower. Even if the rear lug were hammered out and the snuggy screw were tightened up way too much, the visible wear would be on top of the carrier. Good luck.

Maybe a gas key adjustment? If it's not kicking the round out consistently. I had that issue with one of my AR15s a couple of years ago. I had a low profile gas block installed but it wasn't adjusted correctly and there wasn't enough gas to blow back and kick the round out completely. I took it back to where I bought the gas block, they adjusted it and it's worked fine ever since.

Could also be a headspace issue...excessive headspace causes blown primers.

Has it blown primers before?
First time it's happened. I'm thinking it was the ammo more than the gun.
But it definitely feels tight in there with different types of ammo.

On a side note a local gunsmith got the spent casing out for me for $20, so its ready to go back to SA, just waiting for them to email me back.

Did you see any signs indicating why it stuck?

Not Really. No damage or marks on the BCG or the chamber. Asked the gunsmith and he said it looks fine, maybe a little tight in there and to put a little extra lube in there everytime I clean/lube it.

I am wondering what SA is going to say. Think i'm gonna take it out of commission until I can have them look at it.

Glad to see you got it under control. When I 1st got my .308 I had problems also . When shooting it wouldn't cycle the BCG back either and eject the casing . We thought it was ammo problem . Tried 145 grain and 160 then some 180 grain , that sorta worked but not really . So when i got home I was checking out the Gas block to see if changing out the port ejector . After putting my hex key in to adjust the port set screw it didn't catch . Come to find out it was missing the set screw. Not very happy so looked it up in the Manuel and it took 3.32 set screw . Went to home depot got 2 for 60 cents put it and and worked perfect . SA did send me new screws . I did tell them I wasn't very happy this got through Quality Control this way. But all good now..

Take the ammo you are using and drop a live round in the chamber, it should insert with no hesitatio, and should easily be removed with your finger with no resistance.

Also gun looks to dry, needs more oil.

I feel like no matter how much I put on it's never enough lol. Will do. Appreciate the advice.

Yeah, I am of the opinion that most people put WAY too much oil on their guns.( Except old 1911s, those things need lots of oil) Particularly ARs. People's answer when their gun stops running right seems to be spray a crap ton of lube in there. In a combat stoppage as quick way to get back in the fight, ok maybe. My son in law brought me his 300 BLK pistol that started having issues all of a sudden. He runs it suppressed and it just started having FTE and FTF issues. When I got the gun broke down dirty oil was just dripping off it. Ridiculous. His problem is his gas block.

I almost guarantee you @ddeuce22 that slathering more oil in there will not fix your problem. I tend to agree with @BIO-HAZARD . I would send it back to SA and let them determine if there is an issue with the chamber or the BCG, but my guess is that you can clean the gun, moderately lube it and work the action via the charging handle back and forth, remove and re-install the BCG without putting ammo or a magazine in it and everything will flow freely. Your problem lies somewhere else I think. Gas block, ammo, buffer, etc..

My ARs are not high end by any stretch of the imagination. I clean them with CLP and put a very light coating of oil on the bolt and carrier and in the barrel. They run just fine like that.

It;s kind of crazy as we all know nothing is perfect .In the world of mass production And Quality . I feel bad to any one that gets a bad anything . From a car to vacuum cleaner and someone is going to get the lemon .That's the way I felt when I had the issues with my ,308 Long rifle . But we just need to step back and have a little clam time and fix it . As myself I have seven (7) Spring field Armory Guns , And the .308 was my only bad time . As to say I have became a huge fan of them . So much that I was a big Sig Sauer and Glock Fan , I ventured out and open my eyes to other things and like it . So in the end Just take the time and contact SA and fix it .

I was really struggling with just giving up with SA for future firearms, but I generally try not to let one bad experience put a bad taste in my mouth permanently. I've had a few issues with this rifle so far but when it does function it's alot of fun. Hoping the Ronin I just picked up will treat me much better.

@Bassbob I emailed SA customer service on monday but I have not heard from them yet. If I don't hear back by tommorrow i'm gonna call.

It's been a very up and down week or so with my guns. I had to ship the slide back to SIG for my 365XL because the front sight stopped illuminating.
