And yet another issue with my .308 - I'm getting beyond fed up

Not Really. No damage or marks on the BCG or the chamber. Asked the gunsmith and he said it looks fine, maybe a little tight in there and to put a little extra lube in there everytime I clean/lube it.

I am wondering what SA is going to say. Think i'm gonna take it out of commission until I can have them look at it.
Could just be a weird lemon, if they offer to swap it out for a new one that would be nice, they could study the issue.

I'm hoping they will do something. It's been 4 days now since I emailed them. Granted Monday was a holiday so i'll give them that. But still no response. Might be time to get someone on the horn.

I know nothing about your rifle but in my experience most problems like described is a result of using faulty ammunition. Some guns are manufactured to such exacting specifications that out-of-tolerance ammo will not work with them. I use Sig Sauer classic P series pistols as an example-due to close tolerances they want quality full power ammo and what runs in a Glock might not run in a Sig.

Stuck cartridge and blown primer screams overpressure in the chamber, dangerously so. Add an overpressure load in substandard brass to a tight tolerance chamber and you get stuck cases. But ultimately it is the job of the chamber, not the brass case, to contain the pressure. Aguila needs to stick to .22. Clean and lube the gun like suggested and run some high quality match ammo through it and I suspect your problem will clear up. AR's want to run wet but not sopping wet.

@ddeuce22 give them a call, sometimes emails get misrouted or dropped. If you can’t get ahold of them on the phone, send me a private message and I’ll see if I can get something moving for you.
Springfield Armory’s customer service representatives can answer your questions/concerns Monday through Friday 8:30 to 4:30 CST via phone at 1-800-680-6866.

Spoke with SA CS this morning. Said they are having email issues and they cannot respond to incoming emails.
Anyone needing assistance just call the number direct, they picked up on the first try.

Had my return label within 20 minutes. Will be shipping it out tomorrow. Will keep everyone posted.

Don't hyperbole this 1! When I buy or build a firearm I borescope, check headspace and c.o.a.l (to verify specific bullets being used). I do this not out of OCD, but have had issues with ammo not going into battery due to short throats or no throating (243win). I wish I could fully trust manufacturers on getting their JOB done right!

I have to agree with you to. After my problem with my .308 Just missing a set screw for the gas block . I actually go over any new gun with a microscope.

Update:

My .308 will ship back Monday. The invoice doesn't give much detail on what "Repairs" were made, but it did involve some actual workmanship, it seems. They also replaced a faulty or otherwise malfunctioning BCG.

Roughly 2 weeks from the day they got it. About 11 business days. Pretty good. Let's see how it runs when I get it back.
Looking forward to it very much!

OP,

Hopefully you're rifle will run fine now, although ammo can always be a factor.

I'm sure folks realize that there is no Mil-Spec for AR10-type rifles like there is for the AR15/M16. While different brands may share major components they have their own proprietary features as they use either a DPMS or Armalite design pattern. So one must learn what AR10/AR15 compatibilties exist, and the pattern the brand uses for their platforms.

Also, with demand being high and maufacturers try to fill back orders QC can slip.

My .02

Seems like it would've been less trouble for them just to swap it out for a new gun for you.

You would think so. But who wants to give up new inventory to an existing customer when they can barely keep them on the shelves. I haven't seen a Saint Victor in .308 on the shelf or online anywhere since I got mine back in February.

As long as it runs fine, I won't care.

It was a good range day. .308 ran flawlessly. Got it zeroed in and boy was it on the money. Whatever was wrong with it, Springfield fixed it seems. Not a single issue. I am a very happy camper. Never thought i'd say this, but for 2 people we brought entirely too much ammo with us. Pics below for attention ;)

PSA: Don't get so focused on zero'ing your rifle that when you get back from checking targets, you forget to put your ear pro back on. (it's too hot and humid wear them when you aren't shooting and you have an entire bay to yourselves)

I ate one .308 round with no ear pro. Was not enjoyable. 0/10 Do not recommend.
