And speaking as someone who has patrolled the streets and maintained order by demonstration of force, I'm comfortable with what I'm doing. Not trying to convince you, not trying to lecture you either. Many of us have experience and expertise, I do not discount it either way.

This is my opinion

I think there's a higher bar attacking a cop for their handgun than there is attacking a private citizen or security guard.

A criminal who is willing to take on a cop would (IMO) wouldn't think twice about attacking a citizen.

So, I don't think your comparison is legitimate
