Coup in Russia?

Now they are saying that he is marching onto Moscow, and that Russian "troops" are standing aside or joining him. Yep, imploded sub didn't work to pull focus off hunter, now they go with possible "coup" in Russia. I haven't seen this much subterfuge and misdirection since Benghazi.

More on the subject you can go to the Institute for the Study of War. Here is the latest update: https://www.understandingwar.org/backgrounder/russian-offensive-campaign-assessment-june-23-2023

It appears that there is no "coup" per se but that Prigozhin wants to sock it to the Ministry of Defense. Nevertheless, he's made an enemy of Putin and has let his ego get the best of him. Keep in mind this website is generally pro-Ukr and has periodically solicited donations to that country. Also, the masterminds of the Iraq debacle sit on the board of the Institute. It does give some pretty good updates though.

I won't even begin to say I understand Russian politics or have any idea how this might turn out.
I do know that the Wagner group has been complaining about Russia not providing enough food or ammo to their troops for a while now. And apparently, Russia recently launched a large air attack on one of the Wagner base camps. Which is what set this current situation in motion.
However, I think anything that draws troops away from the front lines in Ukraine is a good thing.

No worries!

Latest reports are that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko cut a deal with Prigozhin after consulting Putin. Wagner is withdrawing back to Ukraine. No idea what's in the deal, but Putin is furious at Prigozhin calling him traitor and such. The way I see it, the ball is in Putin's court. How he acts now will make the difference. I'm not hopeful.

I am hopeful that Prigozhin will say the hell with it and withdraw from Ukraine completely. Wagner is the most effective troops Russia has in this fight. Without them, Russia is screwed.

It would be great to have the Wagner group join the Ukraine military however that could push Putin to use Nuclear Weapons. I don’t put anything past him, the man has become mentally disabled.

Looking at this, I suspect it shows that Putin is much weaker than previously thought.

This is a guy who poisons rivals, or has them thrown out windows…

And he’s making a deal with a mutineer?

That’s not the move of someone who has a solid hold on power…

You're making an assumption on heresay. The amount of propaganda being fed to the west is staggering. I know no more about it than you do, but I don't think for a second Putin is losing his grip on power.
