Coup in Russia?

I read this at another site: " This is a way to move Russian troops to areas north of Belgorod without drawing the unwelcome attention of NATO ISR platforms. Move the troops closer to the border and then disperse them. Which means Russia found a way to reinforce troops on a new potential axis of attack that will create a nightmare for NATO planners..."
I agree
Pull all of Wagner in exile to Belarus and then go after Kyiv one more time and bring Belarus troops with them.

Do I hear a "Caa-ching"?

These are all good comments. The other side of this is less spectacular in that Prigozhin has always been at odds with the MoD and the high ranking generals, especially after they allegedly (?) did not resupply him with ammo and fuel that he needed. According to some, he also did not want this stalemate to go on forever, and thought the generals were too cautious. This was his way of showing Putin, his friend BTW, of how serious he takes this.

As far as the CIA getting played, it's possible, but better than the alternative of the CIA fomenting a rebellion. Putin and Prigozhin may be friends, but the FSB has operatives on his staff - count on it. If; a big if; there was a CIA operation to instigate this, the actors, both US operatives and the Russian "allies" are in a world of hurt if they are caught. The CIA guys violated a golden rule if they did this: messing with a third world country as a proxy is one thing; try it against Russia itself and you might end up shipped home in pieces. Even for our current crop of leaders, I would find this decision over the top. JMO

Part of me thinks “maskirovka”—that this is literally a false flag.

On the other hand…if it’s real, it’s gonna be damn scary.

One YT channel said that. Claimed it was all done to move Wagner to Belarus then open a 2nd front.

Apparently, the deal of non-prosecution of Prigozhin is off the table. The FSB has launched an investigation into the matter. Since the FSB likely had people on Prigozhin's staff I would expect a quick resolution.

Might have been Putin's way of testing the loyalty of the general staff. Have Prigozhin pretend to mutiny and then see who'll plot with him.

Latest according to the BBC (the situation is a real moving target):

The FSB has cleared the mutineers of all charges. The Wagner Group in Russia will be disarmed, and it looks like the three options initially reported on are still open to them; go home, join the regular army, or go to Belarus. There is an interesting segment on the Wagner presence in Africa with concerns of some governments there who rely on Wagner for train and equip missions and anti-terror operations.

As I see it, the issue is having Russian forces sit on their behinds until hell freezes over or get on with it and end the war. Who is serving the interests of Russia and the Russian people or is relying on "friendship" with so and so? Prigozhin's differences are with MoD rather than Putin himself according to reports available. Is Putin relieving these guys of command or something more nefarious? Don't know. After missteps early in the war, Putin did shuffle commander's around and did relieve some. It could be, I stress could be, just that simple.

Another thing. The term "nuclear football" is very specific in the US. It's the President's communication device when away from his command center to authorize subordinate commands to release nuclear weapons. No US general has his own "football." I would seriously doubt the Russian generals in question have their own football either. This casts doubt on the veracity of the article.

Some YT channel had a theory that it was all for show and Wagner was able to relocate to Belarus surreptitiously to open up a new front in Ukraine.

We will see.
