Echelon + RMR HD

Jedi54

Operator
Picked up an Echelon yesterday and thinking I will go with the RMR HD but I do have some concerns with the overhang of the new trijicon.
(from random YT video I was watching today)

the maker of that video commented that the brass seemed to be hitting the bottom of the optic and he felt the RMR HD might be too big for this particular pistol.

anyone running this combo?
thoughts?
@xdman - ?

So, Thats actually one of the the few optics, I have not had the opportunity to play with yet. I have one on order from my distributor, but it would be pure speculation from me. You would be able to tell if there was an issue the housing on the RMR would have brass marks on it pretty quick. If the brass goes out to the side vs up and to the right you would be good. But if you are getting the brass mark hits, then there might be better options in a red dot.

thanks James, appreciate the quick response.
I've seen a few other pictures where it seems to be awfully close to that ejection port, just not sure if the brass trajectory will be an issue until it's mounted and fired. And hopefully that doesn't end up being a costly purchase / mistake.

was hoping someone had some feedback on it but maybe I'll just end up being our guinea pig.

I have a Trijicon SRO on my Echelon. I was concerned ejected brass might hit the sight. So far after hundreds of rounds no strikes to the sight. From your photo the front edge of the sight is in the same place as with my SRO.

I really like the Echelon. So far have had no malfunctions after 3-4 hundred rounds. As with all my handguns they are more accurate than I am. Of course the red dot helps a lot. The Trijicon red dots are crazy expensive. I haven't tried other brands an but I feel relatively sure a lot of them are high quality. Oops I lied. I did have a JP Enterprises red dot on a Hellcat, didn't like it at all.

Trijicon is extremely high quality, but I like other reticles better. Namely the Holosuns. Plus the Trijicons don't have shake awake. I almost bought one recently, but I just really dig the green doughnut of death so I got a 507C instead. Ad dnd I think I am up to 11 Holosun optics now and they are solid. No issues with any of them, ever. And brother, I abuse the F out of the ones on my shotguns and carbines.

Bassbob, do you know if Holsun has a 6+ Moa that is RMR compatible? I meant to say one that fits the RMR footprint.

''What is the footprint of the Holosun EPS?

The EPS's direct footprint is the modified RMSc like the Holosun K series, but with the adapter plate that comes included in the box, it'll mount to any RMR ready pistols too."

Thanks. I couldn't tell from photos does the sight have to be removed to change batteries?

$329.00 is 2-4 hundred cheaper than Trijicon. I have my rmr and SRO's on constant setting 4. Trijicon says their batteries are good 2-3 years at lower settings. I change batteries every year to be on the safe side. I do like the shake to activate feature. I'll do a wee bit more research. Again thanks for the battery change info. It looks pretty good.

I'm 76, have old eyes. 15 yards is the longest range I train for. I know a real confrontation could be further but not likely. I don't care for the donut reticle, to busy for me.
