Quigley's pretty good, but I can’t say I cared for the ending...

That seems to be a recurring trend. I'm not sure I've ever seen Alan Rickman play a character who survives the entire film. I'm sure he appeared in some happy movies, but he seems to die spectacularly in all of the ones I've seen.
