good day at the range

took my Dan Wesson, Pointman PM 45 to the club, and 2 boxes of my older lead reloads.

gosh, the smoke, glad i made the switch over to the poly coated bullets.>!!

had a great time for the little time i spent there, love all my 1911's, and other 45's.

1st target..has always been for me the "warm up" target, no matter the gun it seems

2nd target, same distance, same reloaded ammo, 50 rds.

now, i am going to post pics in another thread i started about the Lucas oil and possible the polymer gun absorbing it.>???

So did you ever fix your deck ?
follow up here

well nearly 3 weeks and no practice, i took my Sig STX 45 ACP to the club yesterday...

not bullseye, but still grouping. my "older" reloads with starter charge, lead bullets

as you can see, those lower shots at the left in white, were my "warm up" shots.

and the 2nd box of my reloads.

took my Dan Wesson Heritage to the range, been since late March since i been there.

targets were set at 7 yards,

2 boxes of my reloads, 1 box was lead bullets, the other was the poly coated or "lipstick" bullets.

i had issues with the new venting system....seems like the fans blow way too much down range, making the targets go towards the rear backstop.....i really don't like that. i want my targets straight up and down, not getting pushed by the air flow.

1st.

I can see from the top target that you’ve been watching my videos, but clearly you got bored and watched a @KillerFord1977 video before shooting that bottom one!

😜🙄🤪😎

Well OM, I've seen young ppl at the range blasting away at targets about that distance and hitting air (not even on the paper - RO looks at me and we both have that small smile which means, ya, I see it too), all the while happily filming each other. I'd say you got this.
this morning at the club, i have a habit of "pre-sweeping" the range..

i like a clean floor, so i know where my shrapnel, and paper goes.

anyways, i heard a "vibrating sound" and sorta like a "whistling sound" coming from the ceiling just before the air filters, and the ceiling is slanted downwards to "protect" those air filters.

well, i saw 2 bullet holes into 1 air filter box, 2 straight thru shots, the middle air filter had what looked like a ricochet shot.

i think some moron most likely a new member that needs practice, on recoil control, and aim, shot thru the ceiling, and into the air filter boxes.

that vibration/whistling sounds must have been air getting sucked into the vent system

now at the public range last week, the RSO showed me that he covers the target carrier near the top, where stray bullets ding the carrier. which could render the carrier destroyed

he said when he see's that BS, he stops the shooter and the shooter either listens to his advice, or he kicks him out.

I picked up a Level 2 XSR holster from G-Code for my 4in Walther PDP Compact and got to the range with it today. I’ve been dry fire training with it to get used to the thumb tab that releases the canopy over the back of the gun and decided to try it for real.

Things went pretty smoothly and while I wasn’t really going hard for speed, one can’t help oneself, and kind of did any way and got pretty good results. The interesting part was that I also took along one of my VP9s which fits the holster well enough to do a comparison. Both guns are kitted out with a Holosun SCS and I was running 124gr NATO.

In the picture below the top two targets were the PDP (25 rds per target) and the bottom was the VP9 (50rd). The results were fairly similar but the interesting thing was that as smitten as I currently am with the PDPs (I also have a 5in Compact) the VP9 feels like it was custom made for my hands. No matter how good the PDP shoots with the Walther Dynamic Trigger installed the VP9 feels better in every way possible. It fits my hand gloriously, points naturally, has a $30 spring job that is better than the $200 aftermarket Walther trigger and is very forgiving. And for a gun that people complain is snappy, I find it easy to control recoil and shoot rapid fire accurately. So, while I will certainly continue my journey, it would appear that for me, the VP9 is the One Gun.

That does not mean any great deals will be had for any other members of my stable! Lookin’ at you @Bassbob…. 🙄😳😎

BTW, please don’t tell either on my Archon Type Bs about this article. 😩😩😩
