good day at the range

i'll have to re-qualify for my ccw, sometime in February, cuz it's due in June...given the backlog many have mentioned on a site i frequent, the PD want it renewed at least 90 days before the time.

so, i took my Dan Wesson Pointman 45 and got the target that is required....Army L target

you only get 30 shots to make in 30 minutes.

25 yards down range

must score at least 195 (low end) or up to a perfect 300.

standing, no bench rest

4 years ago, i scored 252....with my Dan Wesson Heritage

today, first target.......144

second target....219

so of course a wee bit more practice, and of course, that day of the actual qualification, Dan Wesson Heritage once again.

Before I read your post was going to say where are the holes.

took my Beretta 92 FS (the blue one) to the club this morning, had a good time.

the first target i had a lot of fliers, my knee has been killing me (posted elsewheres), so standing wasn't really good.

50 rounds, of my reloads, Berry's Bullets, 25 feet away, and only fliers

still shooting a bit to the left, i know.

i hadn't shot any gun since 1 week before christmas, not an excuse, just been a couple of weeks since last time.

i always stay away from the club or public range during the christmas/new years holidays, as that's when they can be quite busy.

This mornin was 5 years ago according to the date on the pic. :ROFLMAO:
you know, the dang blasted *&^%^&^%$#&^ camera...cannot hold time settings.

battery was fully charged

never removed the battery (to reset)

in fact, when i went to go ahead and correct the time, this dang blasted &^$*&^&^% camera froze.....

imma gonna tape this dang blasted ^&%$**&^#^ camera to my next target, and scare it into working right.....

That's great shooting for a guy having knee trouble (not that I'm an authority or anything :))...and everyone has a flier or two at some point. Good work with the new gun!

actually, that particular Beretta is now 3 years old....i keep track of all my guns and thier trips to the range. and thanks, my dang knee is still hurting, and i still have to ice it then apply heat.....plus take Aleve.....

still don't know why this is happening.
What gr. bullet works the best in your opinion? Mine seems to like 124 gr. Speer .355 dia. If it takes 5 years and 5 days for bullet to get to target ya might wanna up ya powder charge a tad.....oops JK. Crown Royal effect
i think i am using 115 grain, Berrys copper coated.....i cannot be certain of the grain, cuz i'd have to descend then climb 2 flights of stairs on this bum knee, so that ain't happening right now..

and yes, i did "bump up" the charge to near max now, but those particular ones are from my older stock...so a lesser charge...and i do not seat at book measurements, cuz if i do, none of my CZ's will shoot'em..so i seat at 1.135, and they shoot great out of all my 9mm guns. i got that 1.135 from a reloader on another website, i think THR..???

everyone has thier favorite bullet company, so far, i am liking Badman Bullets out of Washington state, for thier 230 grain, poly coated 45 ACP bullets, and of course, Berry's.

my 45 ACP Badman Bullets poly coated..

day or time at range (y) (y) (y) (y) (y)

our state dropped the firing re-qual part of the LTC renewal years ago
good, bad or indifferent

i was happy as, it took a whole day to go shoot, sit and listen to an hours worth of stuff, over an 8 hr period
made a for a long boring day and less attention paid to listening than to staying awake

initial license is shoot, etc and class, but class can be done online. like boating license

i am coming up on my 5th renewal next year yippee

i "practiced" today with my Colt Competition, my 1st target, not so good, my second one, i scored 212....

passable, since the lowest one can get is 195, but my first time 4 years go, i shot a 252.

i'd "like to" at least match that, or go over

if i get this renwal (anything can go wrong), it'll be my last time.

the age thing is most certainly here for me, and right now, all i have to do is qualify and then write a letter as to how i will keep the gun safe, while i am carrying it.

i'm tempted to write this...."i shall keep my firearm safe, as i hold it up in the air, with my finger on the trigger, as to not be a threat to anyone".

in some cities here, one must have a mental eval exam as well..!!!!!!!

i sicken and tire of the BS that we have a right to carry, as it is a "Shall issue" state, yet they make it so stupidly asinine to get the permit.

here is one (if the file/document opens) from 1 city here, scroll down to the psycho eval forms....

not my city, my renewal and even 1st time permit is easier......

love my P-320

went to the club around 6:30 this morning,

shot 2 targets of my reloads, 1 was lead bullets from 2023, the other was copper coated from 2024

had 1 round that would not chamber of the copper coated, took it home, and ran it thru the Lee press crimping die.

i'll see at a later time if that was the issue.

anyway, pics of this mornings targets.

(49 rounds on this one)

Nice work! It must be very satisfying to bring bullets you built and go bang on the bullseye. ;) (How's that for alliteration?)
