good day at the range

if i get this renwal (anything can go wrong), it'll be my last time.

the age thing is most certainly here for me, and right now, all i have to do is qualify and then write a letter as to how i will keep the gun safe, while i am carrying it.

i'm tempted to write this...."i shall keep my firearm safe, as i hold it up in the air, with my finger on the trigger, as to not be a threat to anyone".

in some cities here, one must have a mental eval exam as well..!!!!!!!

i sicken and tire of the BS that we have a right to carry, as it is a "Shall issue" state, yet they make it so stupidly asinine to get the permit.

here is one (if the file/document opens) from 1 city here, scroll down to the psycho eval forms....

not my city, my renewal and even 1st time permit is easier......

I promise not to shoot anyone who doesn't deserve it. There, I fixed it for you.

well...not a good day at the range

in fact, it sucked coconuts thru a paper straw

took my CZ 97 B (45 ACP) and 100 rounds of my earlier reloads (from the beginning of 2023, lead bullets)

some fired, some did not chamber.....

like WTF...??

only got to shoot 20 rounds.

packed up and left.

CZ's absolutely DO NOt LIKE reloaded ammo

whether i bought them from the mom/pop store or not.

yet...ALL my other guns eat my reloads like no tomorrow..???

got home, measured the OAL.....measured "same as" factory ammo

BUT, when i went to "plunk" test in the Lyman go-no go gauge..??

many would go in, but not slide out....this was "hit or miss"

ok, now i know.......

i just wasn't putting much of a taper crimp on the earlier rounds

so i'll run the final 200 rounds of the lead reloaded ammo, thru the crimping die again

after that run, i'll be into the red "lipstick" ammo, that has not been an issue at all.

i'm going to take 50 rounds of the "red" ammo wednesday morning, and run them thru that CZ, as the crimp IS a whole lot more.

if anything at all, i never claimed to be an expert....at reloading

but only, an expert in LEARNING from my mistakes.

Glad you didn’t get a squib. Or one stuck in the chamber.

Which I have and which is why I never shoot reloads in semi auto handguns.
oh, in the past, i have had at least 4? squibbs, out of like 8,000 rounds i have so far reloaded..

that was if i recall, in the earlier stages of reloading

i shoot one at a time, not rapid fire, unless it is factory ammo.

i bought and carry in my range bag this.....

ok, GREAT day today at the club's range....took the CZ 97 B again, 50 rounds of Federal ammo, and 50 rounds of my reloaded "lipstick" ammo.

i also ran all the reloaded "lead" ammo (about 250 rounds worth, the last of the lead) thru the Dillon's tapper crimp, and yes, quite a few did indeed get "recrimped"

i should point out to, back then, i was using a Lee crimping die, for a while now, i have had a Dillon crimping die, which is buttery smooth compared to the Lee's.

1st target.

well, this morning, i took my Dan Wesson Heritage 1911, (45 ACP), 50 rounds of my reloaded ammo, and 50 rounds of new Federal..

MY reloaded shot great..!!

i had a bad round of the Federal....huh......

anyway...last week, i shot a score of 227

today..?? a score of 247.....

lowest possible score and still get the ccw permit is...195

highest is perfect at 300

25 yards set at

i can "lean" a bit on the bench as it is allowed, hell i can even use a red dot, and hell, i can even use a bench rest.....nothing in the book about any of that being NOT allowed...

however, i was told by the manager at the public range, "some RSO's feel that one is cheating if they use any of the above"

"if it ain't in the book of rules, then IT IS NOT cheating".......he said.

1 more week of practice, then maybe by the 2nd week of February, i'll take my test.....

next week, i'll take my Dan Wesson Pointman PM 45 for practice, and either way, the actual day of the test...???

it'll be a "Dan Wesson Day" for the test.....

Why bother?
Its Rhode Island
Strictest guns laws in the country
Criminals arent allowed to have guns 🤔🙂

took my Glock G-30 and 100 rounds of my lead reloaded ammo, the final of the lead reloaded ammo.

targets were set at 7 yards, my "usual" practice distance.

i told the manager that "weather dependant", next tuesday, i'll take my ccw qualifying test.

if this happens, i will take my CZ 97 B, (45 ACP) which 4 years ago, that's what i took, and scored 252 out of 300

195 is passing, but nearly everyone that qualifies wants to do better than "minimum".

30 shots, @25 yards (75 feet), 30 minutes time to do it.

i can "lean" on the shooting table, to steady myself, since i have had several back surgeries, and this stupid cyst in my knee....

but i will not use a bench rest, or even sit down, which there are no rules against any of the above.
