I Love REVOLVERS

There is something about a wheel gun
Practical - Simplicity - great for the professional and the civilian

I come to this site to learn.

QUESTIONS:
For the J FRAME FANs:
For the LCR FANS
For the TAURUS FANS
1) why did you chose your revolver-?
2) how to you EDC-?
3) what would you or not change change-?
4) your next revolver purchase-?

THIS IS SUPPOSE TO BE A POSITIVE THREAD:

For this Old Dawg
1) Because I was brought up a Snubby and it is a CQC tool - I could only afford a Taurus 605 357 Poly
2) it is my always firearm - cross draw OWB or IWB - when it was my BUG, pocket strong side.
3) change the trigger - not change the reliability factor
4) LCRx in either 38 or 22LR

How about you-?

Thank you

As of now I just have 1, had to get rid of a couple due to medical bills, the one I kept is a S&W 610 10mm, it’s also a N frame

But I got my eye on a Ruger Vaquero in .45 colt, hard to say this but I sold a few Glocks to possibly get it.

Random answers:

Cross draw works best for my old shoulder.

Bought my first Ruger because of reputation and price point. The Taurus offers a ported barrel which offers me a noticeable reduction in felt recoil.

Grips almost always get changed to Pachmayrs because of personal preference.

Next one hopefully will be something in .500 magnum. X frame or Raging series. This doesn't preclude snapping something up in another caliber if the opportunity presents itself.

Lots of questions, but here goes..
I have a S&W Model 36 that I bought in the '70's for $131.00.
I carry in a Desantis Sof-tuk holster, the belt clip can be removed for either AIWB or front pocket.
The only change I would make is to have a j-frame without exposed hammer and chambered in .357.
My bucket list revolver would be a S&W model 686 plus with a three-inch barrel.

Have had many, many revolvers over past decades. Think I bought my first S&W j-frame in 70-71. Have two revolvers Ruger SP-101 & S&W j-frame. In addition to my EDC pistol in a strong side OWB holster the little Smith in an Galco ankle holster.

i have one, bought it used, and put on the Ruger wood stocks (grips)..

its got a kick, that 45 Colt LC ammo.

i don't shoot it often, cuz the cost of the colt ammo, but i think i do have enough shell casings now to reload maybe up to 200 rounds worth.>??

I love revolvers too. I've been collecting S&W revolvers for 40+ years now and have a bunch of 'em. But I also own some Colts, Rugers and a few odd balls here and there. :)
As to your questions....
1. The one I carry most is a S&W 642. I like it because its small, light and comfortable.
2. Don Hume JIT OWB at 3:00.
3. I wouldn't change a thing.
4. I rarely buy new. But if I did, probably one of the new Colts. The new Viper 3" has caught my interest. ;)

My first revolver I bought was an old Taurus 82 with 3” barrel. Then I went in the USAF was issued a S&W Model 15 and learned how to run them. During some time as a reserve Officer I migrated to the L frame and really lived that now I am back into K frames and went to the Snub r im we Roy duo last year and have my tickets for the east coast revolverfest for October so yeah I’m into Wheelguns!

My next purchase are two extremes. Either a S&W UC 432 or Lipseys Ruger LCR in 32 H&R OR a Lipseys 686 mountain gun or maybe Model 19 not sure!

As far as makes nothing wrong with Taurus and the 856 in 3” is probably the most underrated compact that shoots like a full size around.

S&W and Ruger and Taurus have great revolvers and a phone call away to make any issues right.

Colt is actually made better now than the early ones. I know some will take offense to that but when some very accomplished revolversmiths and folks like Bryan Eastridge (who I happen to be friends with) explain why they know what they are talking about.
I love the older stuff to but but the new stuff as shooters and keep the classics

My main carry revolvers are J-frames; I prefer the Centennial/“Hammerless” models—40, 42, etc—over the hammered (36, 37, 60, etc) for the most part. The point naturally for me, and I like that I can have a higher grip for better recoil control.

I tend to pocket carry the airweights, and appendix or IWB the steel models.

I'd like better sights on the base models, but all of my common carry J's have them already.

My next revolver purchase? I want one of the 32/632 .32H&R models, very much.

I use and carry revolvers probsbly 75 percent of the time.

Most used would be Sw 3 inch model 60 or Taurus .380 snub.

Model 60 in a Owb Stoner dual position holster either cross draw or 3 o'clock. The Taurus in a pocket holster in left hip pocket.

I have already had the 60 magnaported, an action job CMore green front sight and a custom grip.

Next purchase is a SW Lipseys Ultimate Jframe. I like the sights on it.

1) why did you chose your revolver-?
I like them especially for secondary gun use, because those often get carried where there is dirt/lint/crud and a finger-powered gun can often work through that.
They also work well in close or contact distance.

2) how to you EDC-?
If the revolver is the primary: IWB or maybe OWB in a Sparks PMK.
If the revolver is a secondary: Appendix OWB for a snub K-frame (S&W 12), ankle for J-Frame (642UC).

3) what would you or not change change-?
a) UC configuration for all my fixed sight S&W J and K frames. A new Model 12UC would be awesome.
b) I’m still trying it out, but a switch to a 9mm LCR is a possibility.

4) your next revolver purchase-?
I have a lengthy list, but high on that list would be:
-S&W 432UC
-Ruger LCR 327 (loaded with 32 Mag)
-Schofield replica
-Ruger GP-100 3” 10mm
-Kimber K6s 4” adj sight
-S&W 27 5”
-S&W 28 6”
-S&W 14/K-38 6”
-S&W K-frame or L-frame UC models if they should appear.
-Ruger Bisley .44 Spl
