"Is Capacity Still Important?"

More is always fun, but application is where it gets decided. Bird hunting I'm fine with a single shot. Prairie dogs, coyotes and other varmints 1 is fine. Pigs............load me up with a 200 round belt fed as they are fast and usually lots of them. I've seen 20-35 on moist occasions and a few time well over 100, so ya, capacity is iportant.
I prefer a double barrel for birds. I can usually hit 2 if it's a covey and not singles. My cousin likes his A5. I like it too, just not for quail hunting.

"Is Capacity Still Important?"

TL/DR Maybe.

I'm a firm believer that you should carry whatever you're comfortable carrying.

Having said that. according to the CDC.

In 2021, the most recent year for which complete data is available, 48,830 people died from gun-related injuries in the U.S., according to the CDC. That figure includes gun murders and gun suicides,

49,000 in a country of 340 million people? Your odds of being involved in a shooting in America are right up there with winning the lottery.

80% of the murders that are committed in this country involving a firearm are committed by somebody who already has a prior felony conviction. And most of the time they're killing another Criminal( FBI Uniform Crime Report)

According to the Kleck study 90% of Citizen involved self-defense incidents and with no shots fired.

I had a friend who worked as a police officer and then after retirement from the police department as a magistrate in South Carolina.

Across the span of both of his careers he investigated or adjudicated 200 homicides. Of those 200 he stated that ONE of them involved more than eight shots being fired among all parties involved.

According to him the one involved the killer standing over the corpse and emptying his magazine into it.

I have been a witness to (as opposed to a participant in) four shooting incidents in my lifetime. None of them lasted longer than 30 seconds . None of them involved more than 10 rounds being fired. And all four of them by the time I got myself behind some good hard cover it was over.

So given that most of us aren't even going to fire the first shot ever I have to say that there are things way more important than capacity.

I was in the middle of doing laundry and I ran out of time to go back and edit my above post

I'm going to say that capacity is as important as you think it is but there a lot of factors that are more important.

The number one thing you can do to keep yourself out of a gunfight is not be involved in a Criminal Enterprise.

Avoiding known trouble areas will lower your odds of ever being in a gunfight.

Being at home by 9:00 p.m. will lower your odds of being in a gunfight.

Abiding by the rule of stupids lower your odds of being in a gunfight.

1. Don't go to stupid places.

2. At stupid times.

3. With stupid people or where stupid people congregate.

4. Don't do stupid things.

Do those things and your odds have ever needing a gun are almost nonexistent

Just picked up a 26 rounder for the Prodigy. It looks so ridiculous lol.
i'd like to have back my 20 round magazines, as they are in a safer 2A state for the time being, until this stupid mag ban gets thru the courts.

at the range i like to load up my large cap mags and have at it

but jerks against guns, that have no idea, about guns only that "they kill in high numbers" make laws, and violate thier oath to office of "to protect, and preserve the US Constitution", as well as the state's constitution..>!!!!

the "problem" with headshots, is that it's a smaller area to draw a bead onto.

i seem to recall a movie(??) where the coach told the player to never look at the opponent's head for direction, look at his belt line, as that's slower to move in the direction he's going to run.

so when i practice, i go for the mass area.

but also too, yes, caliber may also be of an issue. which is why i'd not carry a 380...

9mm, 357 (when i finally get a holster for my revolver) and 45. like my G 30.
Yup. Back in my football days we were taught to “don’t look at his head. Look at his damn belly button. That’ll show you where he’s going.” And you know what? It always worked.

Oh crap…. I’m 2 for 4 on the list of stupids.

I have about 15 extra mags for VP9/P30L. All of them 17 rd. Last thing I need is a stick hanging out the bottome of my gun.... Although I haven't seen a 20 rd. May not be too bad. Nevertheless, the one in the gun and 2 on my hip means like 50 something rds. Seems like plenty to me.
The 20rd looks ridiculous, but I bought a long slide to go on my VP9 frame and it looks proportionately wrong with a 17 rounder. I suspect I have another VP9 lower in my future. If I just stick with the slide it doesn’t count as another gun!

And as I’m reading this thread my 60rd 223/5.56 Schmeisser AR-15 mag got delivered. Apparently, somewhere along the way I got serious about this. 😎
LOL
If AR with drum is too big then carry this on your hip/leg holster like a Hog Leg holster

I did the same thing with a m&p 1.0 9mm. Bought it with the 4.25" barrel and then bought the 5" complete upper. With the price of it alone it was almost the price of a complete gun. I don't regret it at all. Maybe get a metal lower for it as so far that's all s&w has for small frames.

Sounds like you really like the VP9. I do too. I like the P30L better though.
I ran it in a tactical course last week and it felt extremely natural in my hand. It reminds me of my Archon, which is a very good thing. The trigger is not the be-all-end-all the HK fanbois make it out to be and the reset is pretty horrible, but it is well balanced and very easy to get on target. Fortunately, I don’t have a problem with striker fired guns.
