Ok, so…let’s get a little more detail.

Have you ever disassembled this pistol with the original barrel? Did it disassemble correctly?

Have you disassembled this pistol with the modified barrel/comp before? Did it disassemble correctly?

the only other possibility is this

when you went to pull the slide backwards, and there still being the guide rod, that guide rod "may have" rotated to a downward position, and THAT is jamming it.....

see the "horse shoe" end..??

well that "horse shoe", must slide on the barrel.

so...maybe when you pulled back the slide, past the magwell, the guide rod dropped, then rotated that horse shoe downwards...and might be locking it up

try to put back the spring., then pull back the slide into the magwell opening, and "see" if it did rotate..

if so, rotate it until that horse shoe is UP, then slowly push the slide forward, hopefully it will now come off.

So if it’s a bushingless barrel, is the problem the recoil rod? Does he have the paper clip rod?
when i expand the picture of the front, i can see scrape marks where the barrel bushing would be, so i am not certain it is a Bull barrel, with the "paper clip" tool, like my former Emissary.

even when i expand the left side view, the barrel (to me at least) just does not look like a Bull type.

but the angles of the pics can be deceiving as well.

Thanks for all the pix. Nice pistol.

I find it odd that you can't remove/unscrew that muzzle device. I would think that should be the first thing when you're disassembling. I know I'm showing my ignorance but it seems to me the guide rod has started jamming the works once you removed the recoil spring. Here's a stupid question: Do you have to pull the trigger to release the slide? (I've never heard of such a thing for a 1911, but I've owned only one.)

OK, I'll shut up now and let the smart kids have the floor. ;)

Thank you for your indulgence,

No, on a 1911, you don’t pull the trigger to take slide off, it’s a hammer fired gun. I agree with @HansGruber it’s more then likely the aftermarket barrel, after looking at his pics

This is my first firearm and it came with a Rowland 460. Yes the calibre is maybe too much for somebody new such as myself but I bought it already.

This would be my first time disassembly to this and ran into this nightmare.

I have removed the barrel bushing

The barrel doesn't have a paperclip hole, it's a 2 piece recoil, where i had to use a allen wrench to remove the top half from the top.

i put the spring in loosely and i slide the back, and move it forward, it's hitting metal still and the slide didnt slide off

yea i think so, i'll just send it to Springfield for them to take it apart for me then. I still can't believe nobody in youtube has this problem, youtube generally has everything imaginable as a solution. maybe once Springfield can find out the problem, I can post it.
