hold the gun upside down........then slide it off.what is a brass drift?
so if i were to use a mallet to tap or pound on the back of the slide, it's ok andwon't hurt any internal metal hitting together?

Ah, you don’t have to the bushing off to remove a recoil spring on a 1911, the spring will still come outHe’s already got the recoil spring out, so I assume the bushing is off.
Take. Off. The. Comp.yea something is jammed.
I followed what you all said but didn't mallet it off yet.
here are some requested pics
let me know your thoughts to these as well
Thanks
If only I could adopt that positive attitude! I can’t wait until I’m a crusty old fart!if we are being trolled....it don't bother me......nap time comes, no matter what.
I know but then he would have had to take the entire slide off and I would assume he would have taken the barrel out then. But we all know what happens when we assume…Ah, you don’t have to the bushing off to remove a recoil spring on a 1911, the spring will still come out
So if it’s a bushingless barrel, is the problem the recoil rod? Does he have the paper clip rod? It’s also a bushingless barrel, since you can see there is no bushing in the photos.
No, it looks like he has a 2-piece (Allen wrench) FLGR.So if it’s a bushingless barrel, is the problem the recoil rod? Does he have the paper clip rod?
when i expand the picture of the front, i can see scrape marks where the barrel bushing would be, so i am not certain it is a Bull barrel, with the "paper clip" tool, like my former Emissary. So if it’s a bushingless barrel, is the problem the recoil rod? Does he have the paper clip rod?

No, on a 1911, you don’t pull the trigger to take slide off, it’s a hammer fired gun. I agree with @HansGruber it’s more then likely the aftermarket barrel, after looking at his picsHi,
Thanks for all the pix. Nice pistol.
I find it odd that you can't remove/unscrew that muzzle device. I would think that should be the first thing when you're disassembling. I know I'm showing my ignorance but it seems to me the guide rod has started jamming the works once you removed the recoil spring. Here's a stupid question: Do you have to pull the trigger to release the slide? (I've never heard of such a thing for a 1911, but I've owned only one.)
OK, I'll shut up now and let the smart kids have the floor.
Thank you for your indulgence,
