Has anyone gotten the new Meprolight Pro F enclosed optic? If so, what do you think/how do you like it? In light of the expose by Vermillion China a few months ago about Holosun being WHOLLY & ENTIRELY owned by the Chinese PLA, as well as their sole supplier of small arms optics, my EPS full-size is the 1st, & sadly LAST product I'm getting from them. Even a company like Swampfox, who makes MUCH of their stuff in China (in the same factory that also produces electronics for BMW), isn't a company that's OWNED by the military of our nation's biggest current adversary. Meprolight, on the other hand, is an Israeli company, so I have ZERO qualms about buying their products. At least I know that they're not designing optics that might someday be used to LITERALLY target American infantrymen. For those of you who haven't read the article, here you go:

Well, I'm not yet sure what to think about the Holosun info, as I have about 15 of their optics and they are all fantastically reliable and none have ever needed to be sent back or replaced under warranty. This article you posted is the first I have heard about them being owned by a Chinese company.

I will say that Meprolight has an outstanding reputation and if it's good enough for the IDF I'd imagine you can't go wrong with them.

Jeez, now I have to replace 15 or 16 optics ?

I have no issues with quality of the Holosun optics, clearly. I was however under the impression it was a Canadian company who manufactured their stuff in China. To learn their parent companies are funded by the CCCP is more than a little problematic for me.

Most everything you handle, touch, buy, see has chinese influence. Do I like it? No, but I also don't want to pay 2 to 4x or more for products. Things are tough enough now. I have many holosun products including the new DRS and no complaints with any of them. Just saying

Yeah I get that, but what I am reading is that the Holosun optics seem to be directly funding the Chinese military. It used to be fairly simple to justify it when I thought the company was not Chinese owned.

Why bother replacing, they are bought and paid for. Buy more just to replace, chances are somewhere along the line of the supply chain you will just be sending more money to China.

It's enough to give one a headache if you let it.

If there ever is a shooting war with China maybe some of our troops can shoot some of their troops using Holosun optics.

Wow, you were late to the dance, big time. That info has been common knowledge for years.

Yeah, but not all those companies are OWNED by the PLA. Are you missing the point? There's a difference between companies that make stuff there, yet AREN'T owned by their military. Holosun is OWNED by the PLA.

Owned by the PLA, just to be clear.

No need to replace them. You've already given them your money. And I'll be the 1st to admit that I DO love my EPS. I'm just not gonna buy any more of their stuff.

Why would I assume all you guys were ok buying optics from a Chinese company, much less one basically owned by the chinese government/military ?

I assumed it was what I always heard. American/Canadian company outsourcing manufacturing to China. The whole big deal with Holosun is that supposedly they are designed here, built in China and then tested back here before they’re sold.

I don’t trust the Chinese Govt as far as I can throw them, but does anyone really think there is a difference between a Chinese company that is wholly owned by the Chinese Govt and an “independent” Chinese company. Ultimately, anything that can be weapon used will be. Next time you attempt taking pics of your guns with your phone with Chinese components in it ask yourself if the Chinese Govt might be able to access your phone. If you were to try to not use anything with Chinese built components in them you would get to the end of your driveway. Even rare earth (neodymium) magnets have been found to have tracking tech embedded in them.

I love all my Holosuns. Nevertheless I won’t be buying anymore and will be looking to gradually replace the ones I have. At least on some of them. I think the problem is going to be finding a replacement that has the features I need that aren’t worse quality and don’t require me to sell any of my organs.

Eotech is out for sure. I know too many serious combat vets who won’t use them.

What they've been doing is taking American consumer input & using it to make their optics better. All their stuff is made there. Hell, if you read the article, there's a picture of 1 of their lasers with the Chinese name on the side, but with Holosun on the lens caps.

Also, a while ago, the recently vindicated Mike Glover gave an interview talking about the sheer number of Chinese nationals there are at EVERY ShotShow, taking pic of almost EVERY product, from EVERY conceivable angle. So while they've been duping us with Holosun itself, their corporate espionage game is also still as strong as ever!
